Effect of High Intensity Endurance Training on p53 and Cytochrome-c Gene Expression in Male Rat Soleus Muscle

open access: yesArmaghane Danesh Bimonthly Journal, 2017
Background and aim: Recent research has suggested that exercise training is potential to influence the process of programmed cell death. However, little is known about the effect of high intensity endurance exercise on apoptotic factors.

Bacteria and Fungi Synergistically Reprogram Flavonoid Metabolites in the Pericarp of Citrus Reticulata 'Chachi' During Storage

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The authors employed widely targeted metabolomics, microbial amplicon sequencing, and fermentation assays to investigate the microbiome 's influence on PCRC 's (pericarp of Citrus reticulata ' Chachi ') flavonoid profile over 0–19 years of storage. Based on the correlation analysis, solid‐state and liquid‐state fermentation, and catalytic activity ...

CypD Dependent mPTP Opening Is Crucial for Oxidized Mitochondrial DNA Release in Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Ferroptosis is driven by mitochondrial permeability transition pore (mPTP) opening, which induces mitochondrial swelling and releases oxidized mitochondrial DNA. The released mtDNA activates cGAS–STING signaling, promotes ferritinophagy, and amplifies ferroptotic cell death. Disruption of mtDNA repair sensitizes tumors to ferroptosis in vivo, revealing

Bufalin Inhibits the PI3K/AKT Pathway by Targeting GTF3C4 to Impede Breast Cancer Progression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanisms of Bufalin‐Mediated Intervention in Breast Cancer. ABSTRACT Breast cancer incidence is rising globally, presenting challenges such as treatment side effects and drug resistance. Bufalin is a bufadienolides compound with potential anti‐cancer effects. This study shows that bufalin inhibits malignant proliferation of MDA‐MB‐231 and MCF‐7 cells

The Effect of Nalidixic Acid Group Compounds on Reduction of Cytochrome c from Horse Heart and Candida krusei [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of General Microbiology, 1978
Reduction of cytochrome c from both horse heart and Candida krusei by FeSO4 has been demonstrated. This reaction was stimulated by nalidixic acid and structurally related compounds, and the effect was more pronounced for the yeast cytochrome. Divalent metal ions other than Fe2+ lessened or abolished the stimulation by these compounds.

Dynamics of the Mammalian Placental Metabolome in Placentogenesis and Embryonic Development

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies three metabolic stages (E8.5, E9.5–10.5, E11.5–14.5) and two transition periods (E8.5–9.5, E10.5–11.5) in mouse placental development. NAD(H) emerges as a key dynamic metabolite that enhances embryonic growth through accelerated segmentation and increased proliferation of mouse embryonic stem cell (mESC)‐induced presomitic ...

The electron distribution in the “activated” state of cytochrome c oxidase

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Cytochrome c oxidase catalyzes reduction of O2 to H2O at a catalytic site that is composed of a copper ion and heme group. The reaction is linked to translocation of four protons across the membrane for each O2 reduced to water.

The Neuroprotective Effect of Hemin and the Related Mechanism in Sevoflurane Exposed Neonatal Rats

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2019
BackgroundMany studies have reported that sevoflurane can increase neuronal apoptosis and result in cognitive deficits in rodents. Although neurotoxicity may be associated with mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress, the exact mechanism remains ...

Microglia Mitochondria Support Neuronal Maturation via Metabolic and Transcriptional Reprogramming in Human 3D In Vitro Brain Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
xx xx. ABSTRACT Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition characterized by disrupted neuronal circuit maturation. Emerging evidence implicates microglial function and mitochondrial regulation as contributors to ASD‐associated biology, yet the mechanisms linking these processes to neuronal development remain poorly defined ...

Protein Language Model‐Guided Engineering of a 2,3‐Butanediol Dehydrogenase for the Enantioselective Synthesis of Cyclic α‐Hydroxy Ketones

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A (2R,3R)‐butanediol dehydrogenase from Bacillus subtilis (BsBDH) is engineered for the enantioselective synthesis of 2‐hydroxycyclohexanone. A PASS computational design strategy is proposed to enhance the thermostability of BsBDH. Moreover, ESM‐1v combined with ISM is utilized for enhancing and inverting its stereoselectivity.
