A mutant of Neurospora crassa deficient in cytochrome c heme lyase activity cannot import cytochrome c into mitochondria [PDF]
The nuclear cyt-2-1 mutant of Neurospora crassa is characterized by a gross deficiency of cytochrome c (Bertrand, H., and Collins, R. A. (1978) Mol. Gen. Genet. 166, 1-13).

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Cytochrome-b sequence variation among parrots
The nucleotide sequence of a 307 bp fragment of the mitochondrial cytochrome-b gene was determined for 12 species of parrot, using the polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing. Sequence divergence ranged from 26-54 differences in pairwise comparisons, with the majority of base substitutions occurring at third positions of codons.

Active Carboxylic Acid-Terminated Alkanethiol Self-Assembled Monolayers on Gold Bead Electrodes for Immobilization of Cytochromes c [PDF]
It is extremely difficult to immobilize cytochrome c (cyt c) on carboxylic acid-terminated alkanethiol self-assembled monolayers (HOOC-SAM) on gold bead electrodes prepared in a hydrogen flame.

Comparative analysis of chloroplast genomes from 14 genera of Thymelaeaceae revealed variation in gene content, ranging from 128 to 142 genes, primarily influenced by IR expansion/contraction events and pseudogenization of ndhF, ndhI, and ndhG. Two large inversions were detected within the large single‐copy region, including a synapomorphic inversion ...

Detection of 7-Dehydrocholesterol and Vitamin D3 Derivatives in Honey
20(S)-Hydroxyvitamin D3 (20(OH)D3) is an endogenous metabolite produced by the action of CYP11A1 on the side chain of vitamin D3 (D3). 20(OH)D3 can be further hydroxylated by CYP11A1, CYP27A1, CYP24A1 and/or CYP27B1 to several hydroxyderivatives. CYP11A1

We investigated the toxicity of 12 active compounds commonly found in herbal weight loss supplements (WLS) using human liver and colon cell models. Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate was the only compound showing significant toxicity. Metabolic profiling revealed protein degradation, disrupted energy and lipid metabolism suggesting that the inclusion of EGCG ...
