Cytokine-induced killer cells/dendritic cells and cytokine-induced killer cells immunotherapy for the treatment of esophageal cancer: A meta-analysis. [PDF]

open access: yesMedicine (Baltimore), 2021
Abstract Objectives: This meta-analysis was designed to systematically evaluate whether autologous cytokine-induced killer cells (CIK) or dendritic cells and cytokine-induced killer cells (DC-CIK) immunotherapy combined with chemotherapy can improve the therapeutic effect and safety of chemotherapy in esophageal ...

Cytokine-induced killer cells promote antitumor immunity [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2013
The number of immune cells, especially dendritic cells and cytotoxic tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL), particularly Th1 cells, CD8 T cells, and NK cells is associated with increased survival of cancer patients. Such antitumor cellular immune responses can be greatly enhanced by adoptive transfer of activated type 1 lymphocytes.

30 years of CIK cell therapy: recapitulating the key breakthroughs and future perspective

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2021
Emerging evidence from the numerous clinical trials involving cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cell therapy suggests that its optimization in combination with other contemporary cancer therapies in a complementary manner (rather than as competition) will be

Cytokine-induced memory-like natural killer cells [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, 2009
The mammalian immune response to infection is mediated by 2 broad arms, the innate and adaptive immune systems. Innate immune cells are a first-line defense against pathogens and are thought to respond consistently to infection, regardless of previous exposure, i.e., they do not exhibit memory of prior activation.
