Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Moléculas de adhesión endotelial y fallo multiorgánico en pacientes con sepsis grave

open access: yes, 2016
Mortality rates for patients with severe sepsis and septic shock range from 40% to 60%, costing the United States health care system approximately $17 billion annually [1].

Synthekines are surrogate cytokine and growth factor agonists that compel signaling through non-natural receptor dimers

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Cytokine and growth-factor ligands typically signal through homo- or hetero-dimeric cell surface receptors via Janus Kinase (JAK/TYK), or Receptor Tyrosine Kinase (RTK)-mediated trans-phosphorylation.

Cytokine storm induced by SARS-CoV-2

open access: yesClinica chimica acta; international journal of clinical chemistry, 2020
Highlights • Dysregulated and excessive cytokine storm is vital for critical COVID-19 patients.• Mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2-infected included ACE2 mediated and other pathway response.• Infected lung epithelial cells and macrophages mainly release cytokines

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Increase in Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) Expression and the Pathogenesis of iMCD-TAFRO

open access: yesBiomedicines
TAFRO (thrombocytopenia (T), anasarca (A), fever (F), reticulin fibrosis (F/R), renal failure (R), and organomegaly (O)) is a heterogeneous clinical subtype of idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD) associated with a significantly poorer ...

Cytokine storm intervention in the early stages of COVID-19 pneumonia

open access: yesCytokine & growth factor reviews, 2020
Highlights • COVID-19 infection can lead to the development of systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome MODS within a few days of disease onset.• A powerful cytokine storm accompanies COVID-19 pneumonia.• The

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

Cytokine-mediated FOXO3a phosphorylation suppresses FasL expression in hemopoietic cell lines: Investigations of the role of Fas in apoptosis due to cytokine starvation

open access: yes, 2007
We have investigated phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)-dependent survival signalling pathways using several cytokines in three different hemopoietic cell lines, MC/9, FDC-P1, and TF-1. Cytokines caused PI3K- and PKB-dependent phosphorylation of FOXO3a

Breast-implant associated unicentric castleman disease: a case report

open access: yesCurrent Problems in Cancer: Case Reports
ALK-negative anaplastic large cell lymphoma is a well-established hematologic complication of prosthetic breast implantation, but other rare conditions should also be considered.
