YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Characterization of the major immediate-early polypeptides encoded by murine cytomegalovirus [PDF]
The immediate-early (IE) infected cell proteins induced by the murine cytomegalovirus (Smith strain) were studied. These polypeptides were identified as IE proteins by their synthesis in the presence of actinomycin D after removal from a protein ...

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.

Host immune response to cytomegalovirus [PDF]
To confirm that immediate-early (IE) genes of murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) give rise to antigens recognized by specific cytolytic T lymphocytes (CTL), a 10.8-kilobase fragment of MCMV DNA which is abundantly transcribed at IE times was transfected into ...

Block of death-receptor apoptosis protects mouse cytomegalovirus from macrophages and is a determinant of virulence in immunodeficient hosts. [PDF]
The inhibition of death-receptor apoptosis is a conserved viral function. The murine cytomegalovirus (MCMV) gene M36 is a sequence and functional homologue of the human cytomegalovirus gene UL36, and it encodes an inhibitor of apoptosis that binds to ...

Microneutralization of Cytomegalovirus [PDF]
A simple microneutralization test for cytomegalovirus (CMV) is presented. Using a laboratory adapted stock virus, definite results were obtained after 10 days. All patients with primary CMV infection showed an antibody rise and/or seroconversion; however, neutralizing antibody appeared only seven weeks after the onset of clinical symptoms.
