Specific degradation of photosystem II D1 protein by a protease (Alr3815) in heterocysts of the cyanobacterium Anabaena sp PCC7120

open access: yes, 2011
Some filamentous cyanobacteria form heterocysts under conditions lacking combined nitrogen for nitrogen fixation. Photosystem II is removed from heterocyst during the process of cell differentiation.

Androgen Receptor‐Induced Lactoferrin Accelerates Prostate Tumorigenesis Through Modulating Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.

A Bacterial Transgene for Catalase Protects Translation of D1 Protein during Exposure of Salt-Stressed Tobacco Leaves to Strong Light[OA]

open access: yesPlant Physiology, 2007
During photoinhibition of photosystem II (PSII) in cyanobacteria, salt stress inhibits the repair of photodamaged PSII and, in particular, the synthesis of the D1 protein (D1).

Molecular Glue cc‐885 Inhibits VHL‐Deficient Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma via ETS1 Degradation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
VHL‐deficient kidney cancer lacks effective treatments. This study reveals that the molecular glue degrader cc‐885 hijacks the cellular recycling system to selectively destroy the oncogenic protein ETS1, effectively killing VHL‐mutant tumors. Combining CC‐885 with the approved drug belzutifan achieves powerful synergy, offering a promising new ...

Redox‐Dependent Chaperoning of GBF1 Condensates Regulates Seed Germination in Arabidopsis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In dormant seeds (low ROS), GBF1 forms liquid condensates to repress the germination gene CathB3, and the chaperone GIP1 maintains condensate liquidity and repressive activity. Upon imbibition (high ROS), ROS oxidize GIP1 during germination, impairing its chaperone function.

Role of protein kinase D1 in pancreatic cancerogenesis

open access: yes, 2021
The aim of this study was to characterize the effect of Protein Kinase D1 (PKD1) loss in an oncogenic KRASG12D-driven genetic mouse model of pancreatic cancer in vivo. We evaluated three mouse lines (p48-KRASG12D, p48-KRASG12D-PKD1−/− and p48-PKD1−/−) for cancer progression over a period of one year and detected a significant reduction of overall ...

Role of ROC1 protein in the control of cyclin D1 protein expression in skin melanomas

open access: yes, 2011
A decrease in the level of the ROC1 protein, which is involved in cyclin D1 degradation, might explain an increase in cyclin D1 protein in the absence of gene overexpression.

Carboranyl‐Curcuminoids for the Neutron Capture‐Based Treatment of Amyloid Aggregates in Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The 10B‐enriched monocarbonyl analog of curcumin (BMAC) 10B‐9 enables site‐specific Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) on amyloid‐β (Aβ) fibrils. Neutron irradiation induces histidine oxidation and fibril destabilization, as revealed by 1H‐NMR and FESEM analyses.
