The Correlation between Amino Acids and Biogenic Amines in Wines without Added Sulfur Dioxide

open access: yesFermentation
In classical methods of wine production, amino acids play a critical role, as they are fundamental to all types of fermentation. Beyond their consumption in fermentative processes, amino acids undergo several transformations, such as decarboxylation ...

Enhancing energy recovery from waste through torrefaction: A study on municipal solid waste (MSW) fractions under N2 and CO2 atmospheres

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
An overview of municipal solid waste torrefaction under various sweep gases. Abstract This study investigates the impact of torrefaction on municipal solid waste (MSW) fractions, focusing on energy recovery, calorific value enhancement, mass yield reduction, and energy densification under both nitrogen (N2) and carbon dioxide (CO2) atmospheres.

Ligand Field Tuning of Photoreactivity: Contrasting Low‐Spin and High‐Spin Fe(III)‐Azido Complexes

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, EarlyView.
Why do near‐identical Fe(III)‐azido complexes exhibit different photoreactivity profiles? Linking spin states and key normal modes to wavelength‐dependent photoreductive and photooxidative reaction paths shows how supposedly minor structural changes influence the spin ground state, in turn dictating the photoreactivity profile of the complexes.

Sustainable Hydrogen Production by Glycerol and Monosaccharides Catalytic Acceptorless Dehydrogenation (AD) in Homogeneous Phase

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 18, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Sustainable hydrogen production can be obtained from hydogen‐rich biomass‐derived organic molecules through Acceptorless Dehydrogenation (AD) reactions. Glycerol and sugars are available in large quantities from industry and can be successfully used as substrates in AD protocols, in the presence of tailored, selective, easily tunable and thermally ...

Electrochemical Three‐Component Synthesis of Vinyl Sulfonamides via Decarboxylative Sulfonylation of Cinnamic Acids

open access: yesChemSusChem, EarlyView.
An efficient, metal‐free electrochemical three‐component reaction of cinnamic acids, SO2, and amines to access (E)‐β‐styryl sulfonamides is reported. Utilizing graphite electrodes and SO2 stock solutions, this decarboxylative protocol proceeds under mild conditions with high regio‐ and stereoselectivity.
