Detrimental Effect of Low‐Magnitude High‐Frequency Vibration in an Ex Vivo Model of Intervertebral Disc Degeneration Despite Estrogen Treatment

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Low‐magnitude high‐frequency vibration (LMHFV), with or without 17β‐oestradiol (E2), exacerbated papain‐induced bovine intervertebral disc degeneration, reducing cell viability, impairing matrix production, and increasing inflammation. E2 showed no protective effect against papain‐induced degeneration or LMHFV.

Cathepsin-S degraded decorin are elevated in fibrotic lung disorders – development and biological validation of a new serum biomarker

open access: yesBMC Pulmonary Medicine, 2017
Background Decorin is one of the most abundant proteoglycans of the extracellular matrix and is mainly secreted and deposited in the interstitial matrix by fibroblasts where it plays an important role in collagen turnover and tissue homeostasis ...

Regeneration of an Extracellular Matrix Ecosystem Following Subcutaneous Injection With Different Radiesse Dilutions: A Histologic and Ultrasound Study

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Calcium hydroxylapatite‐carboxymethylcellulose (CaHA‐CMC) stimulates neocollagenesis across a range of dilutions; however, the magnitude and temporal profile of this bioregenerative response have not yet been comprehensively examined.

Invasive human bladder cancer cells do not express decorin.

open access: yes, 2013
Analyses were performed on the whole study population and representative images are shown. Asterisks indicate areas populated solely by bladder cancer cells.

Homeostatic Role of Decorin in Right Ventricular Pressure Overload and Pulmonary Hypertension Induced Remodeling

open access: yesJACC: Basic to Translational Science
Summary: Right ventricular (RV) pressure loading induces RV profibrotic signaling and fibrosis associated with RV dysfunction. RV decorin protein levels are decreased in patients with chronic RV pressure loading.

Stromal expression of decorin, Semaphorin6D, SPARC, Sprouty1 and Tsukushi in developing prostate and decreased levels of decorin in prostate cancer.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2012
Background and aimDuring prostate development, mesenchymal-epithelial interactions regulate organ growth and differentiation. In adult prostate, stromal-epithelial interactions are important for tissue homeostasis and also play a significant role in ...

Decorin: matrix-based pan-cancer tumor suppressor

open access: yes
Studies have shown that decorin is a potent pan-cancer tumor suppressor that is under-expressed in most cancers. Decorin interacts with receptor tyrosine kinases and functions as a pan-receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitor, thereby suppressing oncogenic ...

Altered Decorin Biology in Proliferative Vitreoretinopathy:A Mechanistic and Cohort Study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Purpose: To determine if vitreous levels of the pro-fibrotic cytokine transforming growth factor beta2 (TGF-β2) and its opposing regulator decorin predict subsequent proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) development in patients with rhegmatogenous ...

Decorin Suppresses Prostate Tumor Growth through Inhibition of Epidermal Growth Factor and Androgen Receptor Pathways

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2009
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and androgen receptor (AR) pathways play pivotal roles in prostate cancer progression. Therefore, agents with dual-targeting ability may have important therapeutic potential.
