Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Degradations of Allosecurinine

open access: yesChemical and Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1965
Degradations of allosecurinine (III) gave the N-acetyl amino-lactone (IX), lactam-car-binol C (XIII), quinolizidine C (XVI), tetrahydroallosecurinine (XVIII) and compound (XIX). Identifications of the former three compounds (IX), (XIII) and (XVI) with the corresponding synthetic specimens provided a definite proof for the relative configuration of ...

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.

Novel Composite Electrolyte of Double-Doped Ceria-Sulphate for Medium Temperature Fuel Cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2020
In this study, Gd3+ and Er3+ double-doped CeO2 was synthesized by a microemulsion method. Ce0.8Er0.1Gd0.1O2-α-K2SO4-Li2SO4 composite electrolyte was prepared by mixing Ce0.8Er0.1Gd0.1O2-α powder with binary sulphates.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.
