Affinity Chromatography‐Based Assays for the Screening of Potential Ligands Selective for G‐Quadruplex Structures

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 11, Issue 5, May 2022., 2022
Ligands selectively targeting DNA G‐quadruplexes (G4s) represent valuable targeted anticancer drugs. Aiming at speeding the identification of G4‐targeting ligands, the affinity chromatography‐based assay named G‐quadruplex on Oligo Affinity Support (G4‐OAS) was developed, by synthesizing G4‐forming sequences on commercial polystyrene OAS.

Nitrogen use efficiency, rhizosphere bacterial community, and root metabolome reprogramming due to maize seed treatment with microbial biostimulants

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 174, Issue 2, March/April 2022., 2022
Abstract Seed inoculation with beneficial microorganisms has gained importance as it has been proven to show biostimulant activity in plants, especially in terms of abiotic/biotic stress tolerance and plant growth promotion, representing a sustainable way to ensure yield stability under low input sustainable agriculture. Nevertheless, limited knowledge

Oxidative stress parameters and keap 1 variants in T2DM: Association with T2DM, diabetic neuropathy, diabetic retinopathy, and obesity

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 36, Issue 1, January 2022., 2022
Studying 400 T2DM patients without complication indicated: In T2DM patients without complication, the GPx and TAC levels decreased and the MDA level elevated. T2DM with neuropathy had lower levels of GSH, GPx, and TAC and higher levels of TOS, MDA, and OSI and a higher frequency of Keap1 AA genotype.

The Natural Rotenoid Deguelin Ameliorates Diabetic Neuropathy by Decreasing Oxidative Stress and Plasma Glucose Levels in Rats via the Nrf2 Signalling Pathway

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Deguelin is a natural rotenoid that shows anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities. Rotenoids prevent oxidative damage and potentiate natural antioxidant activity in diabetic conditions, suggesting utility in treating diabetes and ...

Correlation of Glucose Metabolism with Cancer and Intervention with Traditional Chinese Medicine

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Cancer is a complex disease with several distinct characteristics, referred to as “cancer markers” one of which is metabolic reprogramming, which is a common feature that drives cancer progression. Over the last ten years, researchers have focused on the reprogramming of glucose metabolism in cancer.

Research Status of Mouse Models for Non‐Small‐Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) and Antitumor Therapy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in Mouse Models

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Non‐small‐cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is known as one of the most lethal cancers, causing more than 1 million deaths annually worldwide. Therefore, the development of novel therapeutic drugs for NSCLC has become an urgent need. Herein, various mouse models provide great convenience not only for researchers but also for the development of antitumor drug ...

Deguelin exerts potent nematocidal activity via the mitochondrial respiratory chain

open access: yes, 2017
As a result of limited classes of anthelmintics and an over-reliance on chemical control, there is a great need to discover new compounds to combat drug resistance in parasitic nematodes. Here, we show that deguelin, a plant-derived rotenoid, selectively
