Structure of poly(propyl ether imine) (PETIM) dendrimer from fully atomistic molecular Dynamics Simulation and by Small Angle X-ray scattering [PDF]

open access: yesJCP, 124, 204719 (2006), 2006
We study the structure of carboxylic acid terminated neutral poly (propyl ether imine) (PETIM) dendrimer from generation 1 through 6 (G1-G6) in a good solvent (water) by fully atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations. We determine as a function of generation such structural properties as: radius of gyration, shape tensor, asphericity, fractal ...

Dendrimers for siRNA Delivery [PDF]

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2013
Since the discovery of the “starburst polymer”, later renamed as dendrimer, this class of polymers has gained considerable attention for numerous biomedical applications, due mainly to the unique characteristics of this macromolecule, including its monodispersity, uniformity, and the presence of numerous functionalizable terminal groups.

Dendrimers as Antiamyloid Agents

open access: yesPharmaceutics, 2022
Dendrimer–protein conjugates have significant prospects for biological applications. The complexation changes the biophysical behavior of both proteins and dendrimers. The dendrimers could influence the secondary structure of proteins, zeta-potential, distribution of charged regions on the surface, the protein–protein interactions, etc.

Preparation of gastrodin‐modified dendrimer‐entrapped gold nanoparticles as a drug delivery system for cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 12, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Objective This study sought to evaluate the feasibility of multifunctional gastrodin (GAS)‐containing nano‐drug carrier system against cerebral ischemia–reperfusion injury (CIRI). Methods The drug‐loaded nanocomposite (Au‐G5.NHAc‐PS/GAS) with certain encapsulation efficiency (EE) was prepared by physical adsorption method using different ...

Nanotechnology as a New Therapeutic Approach to Prevent the HIV-Infection of Treg Cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
BACKGROUND:HIV-1 has proved to infect regulatory T cells (Treg) modifying their phenotype and impairing their suppressive capacity. As Treg cells are a crucial component in the preservation of the immune homeostasis, we researched that the antiviral ...

Trapping time statistics and efficiency of transport of optical excitations in dendrimers [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 121, 4884 (2004), 2004
We theoretically study the trapping time distribution and the efficiency of the excitation energy transport in dendritic systems. Trapping of excitations, created at the periphery of the dendrimer, on a trap located at its core, is used as a probe of the efficiency of the energy transport across the dendrimer.

Some New Aspects of Dendrimer Applications [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Lumin. 111, 315-325 (2005), 2004
Dendrimers are characterized by special features that make them promising candidates for many applications. Here we focus on two such applications: dendrimers as light harvesting antennae, and dendrimers as molecular amplifiers, which may serve as novel platforms for drug delivery. Both applications stem from the unique structure of dendrimers.

Structure, phase behavior and inhomogeneous fluid properties of binary dendrimer mixtures [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Chem. Phys. 124 084901 (2006), 2005
The effective pair potentials between different kinds of dendrimers in solution can be well approximated by appropriate Gaussian functions. We find that in binary dendrimer mixtures the range and strength of the effective interactions depend strongly upon the specific dendrimer architecture.

Dendrimers in combination with natural products and analogues as anti-cancer agents.

open access: yesChemical Society Reviews, 2018
For the first time, an overview of dendrimers in combination with natural products and analogues as anti-cancer agents is presented. This reflects the development of drug delivery systems, such as dendrimers, to tackle cancers.
