PHYSICO-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF RAT PLASMA LIPOPROTEINS: INFLUENCES OF SYMPATHETIC AND PARASYMPATHETIC LIVER DENERVATION, PARTIAL HEPATECTOMY AND INTRAPORTAL INTRODUCTION OF ATROPIN

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал, 2000
Physical-chemical properties of very low density (VLDL) and two forms of high density lipoproteins (LP) - apo E-rich HDL and apo A-rich HDL in rat blood plasma after sympathetic and parasympathetic denervation of the liver, partial hepatectomy and ...

An investigation of the functional significance of the pyramidalis muscle using shear wave elastography

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
The pyramidalis (Py) is a small triangular‐shaped anterior abdominal wall muscle, the function of which remains uncertain. We used shear wave elastography to test the hypothesis that Py contributes to stiffness of the linea alba. Our results indicate that Py contraction results in a significant increase in LA stiffness, supporting the previously ...

The Effect of 6 Months of Dietary Counselling on Sleep Outcomes Among Patients With Cardiovascular Diseases: A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesJournal of Sleep Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sleep problems are highly prevalent among patients with cardiovascular diseases (CVD). We examined the effect of dietary counselling on sleep outcomes among patients with CVD. We performed secondary analyses within a previously conducted six‐month randomised controlled trial among patients with CVD.

Heart rate variability while assessing transplanted heart reinnervation

open access: yesИнновационная медицина Кубани, 2019
Key difference of the transplanted heart is its full surgical denervation which causes features of transplanted heart physiology. Eventually a great number of studies appeared and they showed signs of innervation partial restoration and its influence on ...

Effects of Electroacupuncture at ST36 on Visceral Pain and Inflammatory Markers in IBS Rats

open access: yesNeurogastroenterology &Motility, EarlyView.
Electroacupuncture (EA) at ST36 significantly reduced visceral pain and colonic inflammation in IBS model rats. EA increased pain thresholds, lowered AWR scores, and downregulated key inflammatory mediators (IL‐1β, IL‐6, TNF‐α, TRPV1, NF‐κB). These findings highlight ST36‐targeted EA as a promising therapeutic strategy for IBS visceral hypersensitivity

Association Between Degeneration of the Paraspinal Muscles and Nerve Root Compression in Lumbar Disc Herniation Patients Who Underwent Percutaneous Endoscopic Lumbar Discectomy

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, EarlyView.
Paraspinal muscle degeneration can have adverse effects on the function of patients with lumbar disc herniation and is associated with nerve root compression. The duration of LEP was positively related with FI of paraspinal muscles. The paraspinal muscle degeneration of LDH patients improved after PELD surgery.

Isometric training at longer muscle–tendon complex lengths: A potential countermeasure to impaired neuro‐muscle–tendon function during space travel

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Manned space exploration to distant destinations, including Mars, continues to be an aspiration of humankind. Space travel does, however, present many challenges to the body, amongst which adaptation to microgravity is perhaps the largest. For instance, both short and long manned spaceflight missions have shown substantial deleterious effects ...

Research opportunities in muscle atrophy [PDF]

open access: yes
Muscle atrophy in a weightless environment is studied. Topics of investigation include physiological factors of muscle atrophy in space flight, biochemistry, countermeasures, modelling of atrophied muscle tissue, and various methods of measurement of ...
