Rethinking the role of HIF in hepatocellular carcinoma
Tumor hypoxia is a hallmark of cancer driving disease, in part through activation of hypoxia‐inducible factors (HIFs). While HIF‐1α is classically understood as a hypoxia‐responsive transcription factor, its role under normoxic conditions in cells is less clear.

USP18 upregulation stabilizes FOXC2 expression by deubiquitination to inactivate the JAK2/STAT3 pathway, thereby inhibiting HG‐induced NMVM apoptosis, inflammation, oxidative stress, and fibrosis. ABSTRACT Background Cardiomyopathy is one of the complications of diabetes, among which myocardial fibrosis is the most typical feature.

The ZmCOP1s–ZmCOL3 Module Enhances Late Flowering, Grain Yield and Grain Quality in Maize
ABSTRACT Flowering time is a key determinant of yield and regional adaptation in crops and is largely controlled by light signalling. In this study, we identified two maize orthologs of Arabidopsis CONSTITUTIVE PHOTOMORPHOGENIC 1 (COP1), designated ZmCOP1a and ZmCOP1b, which activate light signalling and reduce plant height. Loss‐of‐function mutants of

Structure and Function of Viral Deubiquitinating Enzymes
Post-translational modification of cellular proteins by ubiquitin regulates numerous cellular processes, including innate and adaptive immune responses. Ubiquitin-mediated control over these processes can be reversed by cellular deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs), which remove ubiquitin from cellular targets and depolymerize polyubiquitin chains.

TRIF is an important adaptor protein for mediating Toll-like receptor (TLR) 3 and TLR4 signaling. Here the authors show that the deubiquitinating enzymes USP19, as well as the E3 ubiquitin ligase complex Cullin-3-Rbx1-KCTD10, modulates TRIF K523 ...

Comprehensive Landscape of Active Deubiquitinating Enzymes Profiled by Advanced Chemoproteomics
Enzymes that bind and process ubiquitin, a small 76-amino-acid protein, have been recognized as pharmacological targets in oncology, immunological disorders, and neurodegeneration.

Abstract Although seed represents an important means of plant pathogen dispersion, the seed–pathogen dialogue remains largely unexplored. A multiomic approach was performed at different seed developmental stages of common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) during asymptomatic colonization by Xanthomonas citri pv.

ABSTRACT In plants, iron homeostasis and oxygen metabolism are strictly related, indeed several Fe‐requiring enzymes catalyze reactions that also involve O2 as a reagent, product, entry or end point of the pathway. Oxygen sensing itself relies on the Fe‐dependent enzymes Plant cysteine oxidases.
