Applications of Biomaterials in Separators for Secondary Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
In this review, biomaterial‐based separators are reviewed as sustainable alternatives to conventional polyolefin‐based separators. For 12 different natural polymers, spanning from Protista, Plantae, and Animalia, viable strategies for synthesizing biomass‐based separators are described.

Unlocking Ammonium‐Ion Storage Capability of MoS2 via Synergistic Molecular Engineering Strategies

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
The multiple molecular engineering strategies are simultaneously adopted to endow MoS2 with expanded interlayer distance, abundant active sites and strengthened structural stability. Benefitting from the synergistic effects of phase engineering, doping engineering, and structural engineering strategies, the proposed 1T‐O‐MoS2@HCSs exhibits ...

Characterisation of dextrins solubilised by α-amylase from barley starch granules

open access: yes, 2000
Large granules from barley starch were packed into a column and hydrolysed with α‐amylase by pumping a diluted enzyme solution through the starch bed. The enzyme was then trapped onto an ion‐exchanger and the dextrins that solubilised from the granules ...

Degree-Based Topological Indices of Polysaccharides: Amylose and Blue Starch-Iodine Complex

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, 2021
Starch is a polymer of glucose where alpha-linkages are associated with glucopyranose units. It comprises a mixture of amylose and amylopectin. Furthermore, amylose is a linear chain of hundreds of glucose molecules.

Production of bioethanol from residual barley and utilization of fermentation co‐products in animal nutrition

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract The search for sustainable alternatives for bioethanol production has encouraged the valorization of agro‐industrial residues. This study evaluated the use of residual barley as a feedstock for bioethanol production and as a potential ingredient for ruminant feed.

MEMPELAJARI SIFAT FISIKO-KIMIA DEKSTRIN SAGU BUATAN DAN KOMERSIAL

open access: yesJurnal Penelitian Hasil Hutan (Journal of Forest Products Research), 2017
Sago starch contains about 84. 7%  carbohydrate. Further analysis of the carbohydrate indicate that about 73% consist of amylopectin (the branched polymers) and 27%  amylase  (the linear polymers).

Advantages of low‐glycaemic‐index carbohydrates in regulating glycaemic response of energy bar: A review

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Energy bars are widely consumed functional foods among athletes and physically active consumers who require convenient sources of sustained energy. Their carbohydrate composition, particularly the type and ratio of digestible sugars such as glucose, fructose and sucrose, strongly influences glycaemic index (GI), postprandial blood glucose ...

Substituent distribution in highly branched dextrins from methylated starches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Granular potato starch and amylopectin potato starch were methylated to molar substitutions (MS) up to 0.29. Extensive alpha-amylase digestion gave mixtures of partially methylated oligomers.
