Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Active Control of Laser Wavefronts in Atom Interferometers

open access: yes, 2017
Wavefront aberrations are identified as a major limitation in quantum sensors. They are today the main contribution in the uncertainty budget of best cold atom interferometers based on two-photon laser beam splitters, and constitute an important limit ...

Meshed DC microgrid hierarchical control: A differential flatness approach

open access: yesElectric Power Systems Research, 2020
Abstract In this paper, a meshed DC microgrid control architecture whose goal is to manage load balancing and efficient power distribution is introduced. A novel combination of port-Hamiltonian (PH) modeling with differential flatness and B-splines parametrization is introduced and shown to improve the microgrid's performance.

Pioglitazone plus (−)‐epigallocatechin gallate: a novel approach to enhance osteogenic performance in aged bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Aged human bmMSCs are seeded in the scaffold. Osteoblastic induction can slightly increase cell's bone‐forming activity to produce bone‐like tissues, shown as the sporadic xylenol orange‐stained spots (the lower left image). Notably, pioglitazone plus EGCG co‐treatment dramatically increases cell's bone‐forming activity and bone‐like tissue production (

Trajectory generation of differentially flat systems

open access: yesRevista Técnica de la Facultad de Ingeniería, 2010
The aim of this work is to develop a method for trajectory generation of nonlinear control systems with the property of differential flatness. This property allows to reduce the problem of generating dynamically constrained trajectories in the state ...

Robust multilevel average controller for trajectory tracking in mobile robots powered by solar panels: Integrating actuators and power electronics stage

open access: yesResults in Engineering
This paper addresses the challenge of bidirectional trajectory tracking, for the first time in the literature, in wheeled mobile robots (WMRs) powered by renewable energy by thoroughly considering all involved subsystems.

Derivative-Free Nonlinear Kalman Filtering for MIMO Dynamical Systems: Application to Multi-DOF Robotic Manipulators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Robotic Systems, 2011
The paper proposes derivative-free nonlinear Kalman Filtering for MIMO nonlinear dynamical systems. The considered nonlinear filtering scheme which is based on differential flatness theory extends the class of systems to which Kalman Filtering can be ...

Control of differentially flat linear delay systems with constraints

open access: yesIFAC-PapersOnLine, 2017
We consider the control of differentially flat linear delay systems with constraints. The constraints can be given on the state and/or on the control. Linear delay systems are here envisioned as modules over a ring of differential and distributed delay operators.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
