Transcription Factors Are Targeted by Differentially Expressed miRNAs in Primates [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Biology and Evolution, 2012
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are small RNA molecules involved in the regulation of mammalian gene expression. Together with other transcription regulators, miRNAs modulate the expression of genes and thereby potentially contribute to tissue and species diversity.

Extracellular Vesicles Modulation by an Adiponectin Receptor Agonist Provides Cardioprotection for Myocardial Ischemic Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ALY688, a drug mimicking the heart‐protective hormone adiponectin, reduces myocardial ischemia injury. ALY688 increases the production of extracellular vesicles, which carry protective cargo including adiponectin itself.

Identification of microRNAs and messenger RNAs involved in human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell treatment of ischemic cerebral infarction using integrated bioinformatics analysis

open access: yesNeural Regeneration Research, 2019
In recent years, a large number of differentially expressed genes have been identified in human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell (hUMSC) transplants for the treatment of ischemic cerebral infarction.

Identification of Potential lncRNAs and miRNAs as Diagnostic Biomarkers for Papillary Thyroid Carcinoma Based on Machine Learning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Endocrinology, 2021
Background. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) accounts for most of the proportion of thyroid cancer (TC). The objective of this study was to identify diagnostic, differentially expressed long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) and microRNAs (miRNAs), contributing ...

IsomiRage: From Functional Classification to Differential Expression of miRNA Isoforms [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2014
As more small RNA sequencing libraries are becoming available, it clearly emerges that microRNAs (miRNAs) are highly heterogeneous both in length and sequence. In comparison to canonical miRNAs, miRNA isoforms (termed as "isomiRs") might exhibit different biological properties, such as a different target repertoire, or enhanced/reduced stability ...

Hierarchically Engineered Multi‐Enzyme Nanoreactors for in vitro Drug Biosynthesis and Pathway Transplantation Into Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchically structured metal–organic framework (eMIL) is shown to host the complete six‐enzyme biosynthesis pathway for the anti‐cancer pigment violacein, reshaping reaction dynamics and multiplying in vitro yields. eMIL nanoreactors deliver this reconstituted bacterial multi‐protein system into mammalian cells, where cell‐derived substrates and ...

Transcriptome Profiles Reveal that Phytohormone Signal Transduction-related miRNA Regulates Xenia in Rabbiteye Blueberry

open access: yesJournal of the American Society for Horticultural Science
During rabbiteye blueberry (Vaccinium virgatum) production, xenia is observed in trees pollinated with different genotypes after pollination. To identify the molecular mechanism resulting in xenia in rabbiteye blueberry, we used high-throughput ...

Sea Urchin‐Inspired Immuno‐Instructive Ionic Flow Drives MSCs‐Macrophage Communication to Promote Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Bone tissue regeneration is a complex physiological process dependent on the spatiotemporal coordination of immune cells and stem cells. Conventional research primarily elucidates the mechanism through which materials facilitate bone formation by initially modulating macrophages and subsequently encouraging the osteogenic differentiation of ...

Characterization of miRNA profiles in the mammary tissue of dairy cattle in response to heat stress

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2018
Background MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a class of small noncoding RNAs that play important roles in the regulation of gene expression. However, the role of miRNAs in bovine mammary gland responses to heat stress is not well understood.
