AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Digestible lysine levels in semi-heavy laying hens in the period from 28 to 44 weeks of age

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Animal Sciences, 2014
This study aimed to evaluate the performance of laying hens subjected to heavy semi-low crude protein (14.0%) and lysine levels while maintaining the same relation of digestible amino acid/ digestible lysine.

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Digestible tryptophan:lysine ratio for laying hens

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2012
The objective of this study was to evaluate the requirement of digestible tryptophan for white laying hens in the production stage fed diets of different digestible tryptophan:digestible lysine ratios, as well as animal performance and histological ...

Faba beans in diets for growing-finishing pigs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Two experiments were carried out to study the effects of using the new faba bean (Vicia faba L.) cultivar Kontu as a domestic protein source for growing-finishing pigs.In Experiment 1,120 pigs were used with a body weight (BW)of 25–110 kg to study the ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Lysine nutritional requirements of broilers reared in clean and dirty environments during the pre-starter and starter phases

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Zootecnia, 2011
A total of 3,760 Ross male broiler chicks were used in two trials, one in the pre-starter (1-11 days) phase and the other in the starter (12-22 days) phase.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Diferentes critérios de formulação de rações para frangos de corte no período de 1 a 21 dias de idade Different criterion of feed formulation for broilers in the period 1 to 21 days of age

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Poultry Science, 2002
Dois experimentos foram realizados com o objetivo de avaliar diferentes critérios de formulação de rações, baseados em aminoácidos totais e digestíveis, para frangos de corte no período de 1 a 21 dias de idade.

Nutritional Evaluation of Green Mussel Perna viridis (Linnaeus, 1758) and Brown Mussel Modiolus modulaides (Röding, 1798) From Panay Island, Philippines

open access: yesAsian Fisheries Science, 2023
Mussels are considered a low-cost protein source in the Philippines. The green mussel Perna viridis (Linnaeus, 1758) is widely consumed, while the brown mussel Modiolus modulaides (Röding, 1798) is not yet fully utilised as human food but used ...
