Importance of adapted digestion conditions to simulate in vitro lipid digestion of broilers in different life stages

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition, 2023
In vitro digestion studies demonstrate large potential to gain more and quicker insights into the underlying mechanisms of feed additives, allowing the optimization of feed design.

Behaviour of milk protein ingredients and emulsions stabilised by milk protein ingredients in the simulated gastrointestinal tract : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Food Technology, Massey University, Manawatu, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Milk clotting behaviours in the stomach impact the digestion rates of protein and fat. A variety of milk protein products are applied as functional ingredients in many foods.

Digestion of Articular Cartilage by Papin in vitro

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1967
SummaryThe digestion in vitro of diced fragments of bovine cartilage by a 0.1% solution of papain was investigated over a 2-hour period. At half-hour intervals, measurements were made of the gravimetric loss of cartilage, and of the amount of cartilage nitrogen, hexosamine, and hydroxyproline present in the supernatant solution.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Current advances for in vitro protein digestibility

open access: yesFrontiers in Nutrition
Protein is an essential macronutrient in our diet, source of nitrogen and essential amino acids, but the biological utilization of dietary protein depends on its digestibility and the absorption of amino acids and peptides in the gastrointestinal tract. The methods to define the amount and the quality of protein to meet human nutritional needs, such as

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Fermentation Tubes for In Vitro Digestion of Forages

open access: yesJournal of Dairy Science, 1976
During in vitro digestion of forages by rumen microorganisms in polycarbonate centrifuge tubes, forage particles formed dense mats which were raised above the level of media by entrapped gas. This did not occur with polyethylene centrifuge tubes. In vitro organic matter digestion was higher in polyethylene than in poly-carbonate tubes.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Challenges of the Application of In Vitro Digestion for Nanomaterials Safety Assessment

open access: yesFoods
Considering the increase in the production and use of nanomaterials (NM) in food/feed and food contact materials, novel strategies for efficient and sustainable hazard characterization, especially in the early stages of NM development, have been proposed.
