The Pharmacogenetic Footprint of ACE Inhibition: A Population-Based Metabolomics Study. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Angiotensin-I-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors are an important class of antihypertensives whose action on the human organism is still not fully understood.

Quantum mechanical calculation of the effects of stiff and rigid constraints in the conformational equilibrium of the Alanine dipeptide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
If constraints are imposed on a macromolecule, two inequivalent classical models may be used: the stiff and the rigid one. This work studies the effects of such constraints on the Conformational Equilibrium Distribution (CED) of the model dipeptide HCO-L-

A comparative study of an aminopeptidase from lactic acid bacteria: a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Biochemistry at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Aminopeptidase enzymes from the proteolytic systems of S.salivarius subsp.thermophilus Lactococcus lactis subsp.cremoris and Lactococcus lactis subsp.lactis have been investigated.

o‐Terphenyl‐Based Family of Conjugated Macrocycles: Selective Recognition of Phenylalanine in Water and Interaction With Insulin

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
This study presents the synthesis and binding properties of a new family of o‐terphenyl‐based macrocycles, TP[n] (n = 2‐8). The trimer variant efficiently binds phenylalanine in water with a 10‐fold selectivity compared to other amino acids and aromatic neurotransmitters.

Discovery of Potent Dengue Virus NS2B-NS3 Protease Inhibitors Among Glycyrrhizic Acid Conjugates with Amino Acids and Dipeptides Esters

open access: yesViruses
This study investigated a library of known and novel glycyrrhizic acid (GL) conjugates with amino acids and dipeptide esters, as inhibitors of the DENV NS2B-NS3 protease. We utilized docking algorithms to evaluate the interactions of these GL derivatives

Muramyl dipeptide-induced adjuvant arthritis [PDF]

open access: yesInfection and Immunity, 1980
Muramyl dipeptide, N-acetylmuramyl-L-alanyl-D-isoglutamine, induced adjuvant arthritis in WKA rats when injected in a water-in-oil emulsion prepared with Freund incomplete adjuvant (Difco), but not when emulsified with Drackeol and Arlacel A.

Muscle carnosine metabolism and β-alanine supplementation in relation to exercise and training [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Carnosine is a dipeptide with a high concentration in mammalian skeletal muscle. It is synthesized by carnosine synthase from the amino acids L-histidine and beta-alanine, of which the latter is the rate-limiting precursor, and degraded by carnosinase ...

Conformational changes in glycine tri- and hexapeptide

open access: yes, 2005
We have investigated the potential energy surfaces for glycine chains consisting of three and six amino acids. For these molecules we have calculated potential energy surfaces as a function of the Ramachandran angles phi and psi, which are widely used ...

Bioactivity in Whey Proteins Influencing Energy Balance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Peer-reviewedObesity develops due to energy (food) intake exceeding energy expenditure. Nutrients that reduce the positive energy balance are thus being considered as therapies to combat obesity.
