Theoretical Study on the Inhibition of Ribonucleotide Reductase by 2‘-Mercapto-2‘-deoxyribonucleoside-5‘-diphosphates

open access: yes, 2016
Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) is responsible for the reduction of ribonucleotides into the correspondent 2‘-deoxyribonucleotides in the only physiological process that yields the monomers of DNA.

Harnessing blood clot as a native scaffold for orchestrating tissue repairs and regeneration

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The blood clot, owing to its dynamic composition and unique microenvironment, holds significant yet underappreciated potential for tissue engineering. This review systematically summarizes the pathophysiology of clot formation, the key regulatory factors shaping its microenvironment, and its applications in both pre‐clinical and clinical settings ...

Adaptive Genomic Divergence Across Altitudes in Capsella bursa‐pastoris

open access: yesBiological Diversity, EarlyView.
Genomic divergence was observed between high‐altitude and low‐altitude populations of Capsella bursa‐pastoris in China, consistent with an important role of ecological factors. Candidate adaptive loci associated with enhanced energy metabolism, photoprotection, and growth plasticity under altitudinal stress were identified.

Phosphatase Production among Candida Species

open access: yesRADS Journal of Biological Research & Applied Science, 2013
Several attempts to demonstrate the production of hydrolytic enzyme such as phosphatase among Candida species have been made as, these are the virulence factor that may play important role in the pathogenicity of Candida and also able to attack cell and ...

Enzymatic Prenylation of Proteins and Peptides: From Cysteine S‐Prenylation to Tryptophan‐Selective Biocatalysis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This review highlights biocatalytic prenylation as a versatile strategy for tailoring the functional properties of peptides and proteins. By comparing branched isoprenoids with linear lipids, we illustrate how specific prenyl architectures modulate the behaviors of lipidated proteins within membrane environments.

Spotlight on the Nucleotide: Solid‐State NMR for the Investigation of ATP Hydrolysis in the ATPase SmsC

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Nucleotide‐detected solid‐state NMR has been applied to probe nucleotide conformations and dynamics during ATP hydrolysis using the dimeric P‐loop ATPase SmsC as a model protein. The different stages of ATP hydrolysis have been mimicked by ATP analogues for which different degrees of conformational heterogeneity have been observed. ABSTRACT Solid‐state

The chemoenzymatic synthesis of clofarabine and related 2′-deoxyfluoroarabinosyl nucleosides: the electronic and stereochemical factors determining substrate recognition by E. coli nucleoside phosphorylases

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014
Two approaches to the synthesis of 2-chloro-9-(2-deoxy-2-fluoro-β-D-arabinofuranosyl)adenine (1, clofarabine) were studied. The first approach consists in the chemical synthesis of 2-deoxy-2-fluoro-α-D-arabinofuranose-1-phosphate (12a, 2FAra-1P) via ...

A novel N-hydroxy-N′-aminoguanidine derivative inhibits ribonucleotide reductase activity: Effects in human HL-60 promyelocytic leukemia cells and synergism with arabinofuranosylcytosine (Ara-C)

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceRibonucleotide reductase (RR; EC 1.17.4.1) is responsible for the conversion of ribonucleoside diphosphates into deoxyribonucleoside diphosphates, which are essential for DNA replication.

Membrane‐Permeable Nucleoside T‐1106 Diphosphate and Triphosphate Analogues as Antiviral Pronucleotides

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Favipiravir (T‐705) and the non‐fluorinated counterpart (T‐1106) are antiviral agents that inhibit the RNA‐dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp) of various RNA viruses. The antiviral efficacy of nucleoside analogues is strongly dependent on their intracellular activation by cellular kinases to produce their corresponding triphosphate metabolites (T‐705‐RTP ...
