Monosaccharide and Disaccharide Mimics: New Molecular Tools for Biology and Medicine
Intercellular communication is governed by interactions between surface oligosaccharides and glycoproteins. The biosynthesis of these molecules involves glycosidations catalyzed by glycosyltransferases and hydrolysis of O-glycosyl linkages ...

We designed and synthesized novel mannose‐6‐phosphate (M6P) derivatives to enhance their binding affinity for the CI‐M6P/IGF2 receptor, which plays a key role in lysosomal targeting. Using a fluorescence polarization assay, we evaluated di‐, tri‐, and penta‐M6P peptides and modified M6P analogs.

The convergent synthesis of Lewis‐X‐containing betulinic acid and echinocystic acid saponins (1 and 2) is presented. The synthetic saponins were shown to inhibit, at the low micromolar range, the DC‐SIGN‐ and L‐SIGN‐mediated transfer of HIV‐1 infection to CD4‐positive cells, whereas free Lewis‐X, aglycones, and structurally similar triterpenoid ...

Theoretical and NMR-based Conformational Analysis of Phosphodiester-linked Disaccharides
The conformational behaviour of three phosphate-bridged dimannosides was studied by means of NMR and computational molecular modelling. First, the conformations of the phosphodiester linker were determined by quantum chemistry methods using dimethyl ...

The Synthesis of Aryl‐β‐C‐Glycosides from Native Saccharides
The synthesis of p‐nitrophenol‐β‐C‐glycosides from native mono‐, di‐ and trisaccharides is described. The one‐pot‐two‐step procedure uses water as the solvent and produces exclusively β‐C‐glycosides, the desired stereochemistry for most medicinal chemistry applications.

Boron Neutron Capture Therapy is a promising technique for treating “untreatable” brain cancers by having 10B nuclei absorb neutrons and then decay to 7Li destroying the cells they are in. The dominant clinical agent is 4‐borono‐l‐phenylalanine, and this review comprehensively analyzes all of its reported patent and literature syntheses to help ...

Substitution Pattern of the Secondary Rim of ICyD Ligand Influences Stereoselectivity
The substitution pattern of the secondary rim in NHC‐capped cyclodextrin gold complexes significantly influences the reactivity and stereoselectivity of gold‐catalyzed enyne cycloisomerizations. A custom‐designed benzyl‐methyl substitution pattern delivers the highest yields and selectivities.
