Repair of double-strand DNA breaks in Drosophila

Mutation Research, 1982
This study describes the repair kinetics of DNA double-strand breaks in primary and established cell cultures of Drosophila melanogaster. Double-strand breaks, induced by X-irradiation, were monitored by neutral elution. In primary cell cultures 50% of the double-strand breaks induced by 10 kR of X-rays are repaired within 45 min and 80% of the breaks ...

DksA and DNA double-strand break repair

Current Genetics, 2019
We use genetic assays to suggest that transcription-coupled repair or new origin formation in Escherichia coli involves removal of RNAP to create an RNA primer for DNA synthesis. Transcription factor DksA was shown to play a role in numerous reactions involving RNA polymerase.

DNA Double-Strand Breaks and their Relation to Cytoxicity

1988
In previous publications we have proposed that DNA double strand breaks were the crucial lesions leading to radiation induced cell death, chromosomal aberrations and mutations, and furthermore we have argued that the double strand breaks were induced according to linear-quadratic dose kinetics.

Regulation and Repair of Double-Strand DNA Breaks

Critical Reviews™ in Eukaryotic Gene Expression, 1996
Double-strand break (DSB) repair in mammalian cells involves in DNA-dependent protein kinase (DNA-PK). DNA-PK is composed of three subunits, a catalytic kinase subunit (DNA-PKcs) mutated in the mouse scid complementation group and the Ku heterodimer. Ku-deficient and DNA-PKcs-deficient cell lines and an animal model have illuminated important features ...

In Vitro Rejoining of Double Strand Breaks in Genomic DNA

2012
Recent genetic and biochemical studies have provided important insights into the mechanism of nonhomologous end joining (NHEJ) pathways in higher eukaryotes, and have facilitated the functional characterization of several of its components including DNA-PKcs, Ku, DNA ligase IV, XRCC4, XLF/Cernunnos, and Artemis.
