Epigenetic Modulation of the ACE System Underlies the Slow Aerobic Muscle Phenotype and Metabolic Exercise Response

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
Weekly moderate‐to‐vigorous activity (≈6 h) induced a marked increase in ACE promoter methylation in exercised knee‐extensor muscle. In combination with the ACE I/D genotype, ACE methylation contributed to ACE gene activity regulation in ways aligning with the slow‐twitch, aerobic muscle phenotype and its metabolic response to endurance exercise ...

Targeting Arterial Dysfunction in Cardiovascular Disease Using Stem Cell‐Based Therapies

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 6, 31 March 2026.
Graphical presentation of stem cell‐based therapies for arterial dysfunction, endothelial repair and regeneration strategies. SMC, smooth muscle cell. ABSTRACT Arterial regeneration represents a critical frontier in cardiovascular medicine, as progressive endothelial dysfunction, maladaptive vascular smooth muscle cell (SMC) plasticity, and chronic ...

A Modified Methyl Transferase Cofactor to Selectively Silence Gene Expression in Escherichia coli

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 6, 27 March 2026.
Graphical abstract and table of contents entry A modified methyl transferase cofactor, containing AdoHcy azide, creates a specific single‐site molecular switch near a promoter, on plasmid DNA, preventing the expression of a single gene at the designated site, not observed with other modifications.

Structural and Functional Validation of Pseudomonas Savastanoi Ethylene Forming Enzymes Reveals Flexibility in 2‐Oxoglutarate Binding Mode and Conformation

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 5, 13 March 2026.
Studies with naturally occuring variants of the Pseudomonas savastanoi ethylene‐forming enzyme (PsEFE) inform on the effect of residues on turnover and product ratio. Crystallographic studies imply a potential for metal ion sensing. Pseudomonas savastanoi pv.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 20, Issue 3, Page 588-610, March 2026.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Arginine Methylation Antagonizes TEAD3‐Mediated Repression to Promote Osteogenic Differentiation by Disrupting RUNX2‐Sequestrating Condensates

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 March 2026.
In the unmethylated state, TEAD forms stable, repressive condensates that sequester the osteogenic master regulator RUNX2. Arginine methylation of TEAD at R55 acts as a molecular brake, dissolving these condensates to release RUNX2 and activate the osteogenic program.
