Enhanced production of docosahexaenoic acid in mammalian cells.
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), one of the important polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) with pharmaceutical and nutraceutical effects, may be obtained through diet or synthesized in vivo from dietary a-linolenic acid (ALA).

Early postnatal docosahexaenoic acid levels and improved preterm brain development
Background:Preterm birth has a dramatic impact on polyunsaturated fatty acid exposures for the developing brain. This study examined the association between postnatal fatty acid levels and measures of brain injury and development, as well as outcomes ...

Resveratrol and pterostilbene reduced the steatotic status of animals fed a high‐fat, high‐sucrose diet, involving differential and specific mechanisms of action for each stilbene. Thus, changes in riboflavin metabolism, nicotinamide mononucleotide metabolism, or in the LysoPC(18:1)‐mediated effects contribute to the specific actions of pterostilbene ...

Acetylcholinesterase Inhibition and Antioxidant Activity of DHA‐Disubstituted Phospholipids
1,2‐Di‐DHA‐PC phospholipids in nutraceutical form may cross the blood‐brain barrier and inhibit acetylcholinesterase (AChE) activity, with an efficacy similar to galantamine. This suggests their potential as neuroprotective agents in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease.

(Poly)phenols constitute a source of natural therapeutic molecules capable of targeting angiogenesis in different scenarios. This review summarizes the current evidence of the role of (poly)phenols in modulating angiogenesis. The reader can find a compilation of preclinical and human investigations describing pro‐ and anti‐angiogenic effects of these ...

ABSTRACT Objective To investigate the effect of krill oil (KO) supplementation during alternate‐day fasting (ADF) on body composition and muscle function in healthy adults with overweight. Methods In a randomized trial, during the 8‐week ADF, participants consumed four capsules per day containing krill oil (KO group) or vegetable oil (placebo group ...

The JNK pathway and oxidative stress are activated, and pro‐inflammatory cytokines are increased in neonatal maternal separation (NMS) rats. While docosahexaenoic acid treatment suppresses the activation of JNK pathway and oxidative stress, and reduces pro‐inflammatory cytokines release, thereby improving autism‐like behavior induced by NMS.
