Docosahexaenoic acid: membrane modification and neurotrophic mechanisms
Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA, 22:6n-3) is highly enriched in the brain mainly in membrane phospholipids. Maintenance of a high DHA concentration in brain is essential for proper neuronal function, suggesting a unique requirement of this fatty acid for an ...

Ferroptosis is driven by unrestricted peroxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acyl (PUFA) chains in membrane phospholipids. In triple‐negative breast cancer cells, lipid droplets (LDs) sequester dietary PUFAs, limiting their incorporation into membrane phospholipids, preventing mitochondrial damage, and reducing lipid peroxidation and ferroptosis.

Rapeseeds a Rich Source of Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids
In human diet, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), have an essential role in optimal brain functions and stroke prevention, specially, omega-3 fatty acids, e.g., 9,12,15-linolenic acid (ALA, 18:3), 5,8,11,14,17-eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA, 20:5), and 4,7 ...

Fetal growth restriction is associated with placental metabolic adaptations. In small‐for‐gestational‐age placenta (SGA), cholesterol receptors and steroidogenic enzymes are upregulated, enhancing steroidogenesis. NAD salvage pathway is also increased to support NADP+/NADPH requirements.

Using 1H NMR metabolomics, we measured polar and lipid metabolites from human blood neutrophils from people with frailty (n = 31, mean age 84Y), people with rheumatoid arthritis (n = 16, mean age 55Y), robust older (n = 24, mean age 66Y) and healthy younger people (n = 21, mean age 22Y).

Circadian disruption via constant light induces sex‐specific remodeling of the microbiome, lipid mediators, and immune responses. Females exhibit broader gut microbiota alterations, reduced jejunal oxylipins, increased hypothalamic N‐acylethanolamines, and a more inflammatory cytokine profile. Muscle responses are sex‐ and fiber type‐dependent: females

DEVELOPMENT OF A COOKIE WITH ADDED OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS SOURCE AS FUNCTIONAL FOOD
The present work aims at develop of a cookie with added omega 3. Three different commercial forms of omega 3 were evaluated as docosahexaenoic acid and ecoisapentaenoic acid (emulsion, powder and oil) at different omega 3 (ω3): omega 6 (ω6) ratios (1:5 ...
