Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

The integrated analysis of SIRT family expression, prognostic value, and potential implications in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
BackgroundAcute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a rapidly progressive hematological malignancy caused by the dysregulated proliferation and abnormal differentiation or differentiation block of lymphoid precursors.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Targeted and personalized immunotherapy in lung adenocarcinoma: single-cell RNA sequencing of MAFF+ tumor cells and the therapeutic potential of FOS

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundNon-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was a major cause of cancer-related mortality globally. Despite advancements in immunotherapy and targeted therapies, clinical outcomes were still limited by tumor heterogeneity and treatment resistance.

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Effects of physiological levels of the green tea extract Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) on breast cancer cells

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2014
Physiological concentrations of the green tea extract EGCG caused growth inhibition in oestrogen receptor α (ERα)-positive MCF7 cells, that was associated with down-regulation of the ERα and reduced insulin-like growth factor (IGF) binding protein-2 ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

A mitochondrial ferroptosis-related gene signature predicts prognosis and immune landscape in colon cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
BackgroundColon cancer is a highly aggressive gastrointestinal malignancy with significant global health implications. Although mitochondrial ferroptosis-related genes have been implicated in colon cancer progression, their prognostic significance ...

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.
