Extracellular overexpression of recombinant Thermobifida fusca cutinase by alpha-hemolysin secretion system in E. coli BL21(DE3) [PDF]
Abstract Background Extracellular expression of proteins has an absolute advantage in a large-scale industrial production. In our previous study, Thermobifida fusca cutinase, an enzyme mainly utilized in textile industry, was expressed via type II secretory system in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3), and it was found that ...

PRODUCTION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF CRUDE INTRACELLULER PHYTASE FROM RECOMBINANT BACTERIA pEAS1AMP [PDF]
This research was aimed at producing a crude intracellular phytase characterized from recombinant bacteria. The recombinant bacteria (pEAS1AMP) was produced by way of transforming pET-22b(+) +pEAS1 into competent E. coli BL21 and E.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Rare arginine codons AGA and AGG affect the heterologous expression of proteins in Eschericha coli. The tRNAs necessary for protein synthesis are scarce in E. coli strain BL21(DE3) pLysS and plentiful in strain BL21(DE3) CodonPlus −RIL.

Background Recently it was shown that production of recombinant proteins in E. coli BL21(DE3) using pET based expression vectors leads to metabolic stress comparable to a carbon overfeeding response. Opposite to original expectations generation of energy

Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A eubacterial origin for the human tRNA nucleotidyltransferase? [PDF]
tRNA CCA-termini are generated and maintained by tRNA nucleotidyltransferases. Together with poly(A) polymerases and other enzymes they belong to the nucleotidyltransferase superfamily.

Production of Indigo by Immobilization of E. coli BL21 (DE3) Cells in Calcium-Alginate Gel Capsules [PDF]
Abstract The ability of catalyzing indole into indigo of gene engineering strain expressing P450 BM3 immobilized by entrapment in calcium-alginate gel capsules was examined, and various characteristics of immobilized cells were assessed. Optimum conditions for cells activity were not affected after immobilization, and pH and temperature for both free

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
