Microcalorymetric measurement of ecto-nucleotidase activity of endothelial cells
1999Heat flux (HF) reflecting the metabolic activity of the perfused pig aortic endothelial cells (PAEC) grown on microcarrier beads was measured microcalorimetrically (LKB thermal monitor) and found to be 231.0 ą65.5 ěW/mg cell protein or 46.34 ą 8.48 pW per single cell.

Ecto-nucleotidases terminate purinergic signalling in the cochlear endolymphatic compartment.
Neuroreport, 1998There is strong evidence for a purinergic signalling system in the inner ear which regulates auditory sensitivity. This study describes the terminating mechanism for purinergic signalling in the cochlear endolymphatic compartment via ecto-nucleotidases. Exogenous ATP was introduced into the scala media (SM) of the isolated, perfused guinea-pig cochlea,

Roles of Asp54 and Asp213 in Ca2+ utilization by soluble human CD39/ecto-nucleotidase
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 2002Soluble human CD39 (solCD39) rapidly metabolizes nucleotides, especially ADP released from activated platelets, thereby inhibiting further platelet activation and recruitment. Using alanine substitution mutagenesis, we established a functional role for aspartates D54 and D213 in solCD39.
