Characterization of circulating microparticle-associated CD39 family ecto-nucleotidases in human plasma [PDF]
Phosphohydrolysis of extracellular ATP and ADP is an essential step in purinergic signaling that regulates key pathophysiological processes, such as those linked to inflammation. Classically, this reaction has been known to occur in the pericellular milieu catalyzed by membrane bound cellular ecto-nucleotidases, which can be released in the form of ...

Ecto-nucleotidases distribution in human cyclic and postmenopausic endometrium. [PDF]
Extracellular ATP and its hydrolysis product, adenosine, acting through specific receptors collectively named purinergic receptors, regulate female fertility by influencing the endometrial fluid microenvironment. There are four major groups of ecto-nucleotidases that control the levels of extracellular ATP and adenosine and thus their availability at ...

The Role of the Ecto-Nucleotidases CD73 and CD39 in Chemo- and Immunotherapy. [PDF]
Immunotherapy, particularly effective in tumors with a high mutational burden, is very often administered in combination with chemotherapy. Several tumor types with a high mutational rate include melanoma and non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), which are particularly sensitive to immunotherapy.

Influence of Ecto-nucleoside triphosphate diphosphohydrolase activity on Trypanosoma cruzi infectivity and virulence. [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi is the causative agent of Chagas disease. There are no vaccines or effective treatment, especially in the chronic phase when most patients are diagnosed.

Ecto-nucleotidase activities in the fat body ofRhodnius prolixus [PDF]
In this study, we describe the ability of intact fat body of an insect, Rhodnius prolixus, to hydrolyze extracellular ATP. In these fat bodies, the ATP hydrolysis was low in the absence of any divalent metal, and was stimulated by MgCl(2). Both activities (in the absence or presence of MgCl(2)) were linear with time for at least 30 min.

Extracellular ATP is a danger signal to the brain and contributes to neurodegeneration in animal models of Alzheimer's disease through its extracellular catabolism by CD73 to generate adenosine, bolstering the activation of adenosine A2A receptors (A2AR).
