The effect of egg weight on egg external quality characteristics and hatching performance in pekin ducks [PDF]

open access: yesKafkas Universitesi Veteriner Fakültesi Dergisi, 2023
This study aimed to investigate the effect of different egg weights on egg external quality characteristics and hatching performance in Pekin ducks. A total of 800 eggs were divided into three weight categories: "light" (Lo; 82 g).

Controlled Egg Weight Loss During Incubation of Turkey Eggs

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1987
Weight loss (12%) of turkey eggs in a commercial incubator by a weekly adjustment of relative humidity (RH) was compared in four independent trials with the industry standard of maintaining 58% RH. Trials 1 and 2 were conducted with eggs from one flock of recycled hens during their 14th and 20th week of lay, respectively.

Prediction of internal egg quality traits of Potchefstroom Koekoek and Lohmann Brown layers using classification and regression tree method [PDF]

open access: yesArchives Animal Breeding
Egg quality traits are features of eggs that influence the general quality of the egg. This study aimed to establish models for the prediction of albumen weight and yolk weight in Potchefstroom Koekoek and Lohmann Brown layers with a classification and ...

Egg buoyancy of flounder, Platichthys flesus , in the Baltic Sea—adaptation to salinity and implications for egg survival [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Highlights: • Egg specific gravity vary between areas/subpopulations as an adaptation to salinity. • Egg diameter differ between areas/subpopulations whereas egg dry weight does not.

Heritability estimates of egg weight and egg shell weight in Ikenne, Nigeria

open access: yesInternational Journal of Scientific World, 2017
This study is designed to determine the inheritance pattern of egg weight and egg shell weight of exotic laying chickens at 25, 51, 72 weeks and overall mean ages of the birds. For this purpose, thirty eggs were collected daily from the birds continuously for five days of egg production, at each ages 25, 51 and 72 weeks.

Investigation of Egg Quality Characteristics Affecting Egg Weight of Lohmann Brown Hen with Data Mining Methods [PDF]

open access: yesPoultry Science Journal
Hen egg weight is one of the most important traits in the egg production industry; however, the egg traits influencing it are poorly understood. Random forest (RF), multivariate adaptive regression spline (MARS), classification and regression trees (CART)

Inheritance of Egg Weight

open access: yesPoultry Science, 1952
Abstract THE results of selection and crosses involving differences in weight or size of eggs establish conclusively that heredity is a basic factor in determining egg weight. However, various conclusions relative to the number of genes operating, the mode of their expression, and the contributions of the male and female have been postulated, many of
