Postoperative Stress Accelerates Atherosclerosis Through Inflammatory Remodeling of the HDL Proteome and Impaired Reverse Cholesterol Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
The study shows that noncardiac surgical inflammation rapidly disrupts HDL function and cholesterol efflux in mice and human patients. Impaired reverse cholesterol transport after surgery drives rapid lipid accumulation, NETosis, and apoptosis within atherosclerotic plaques.

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP): A Comprehensive Review of Types, Pathophysiology, and Treatment Approaches

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy is an autoimmune disorder causing demyelination, leading to distal weakness, sensory loss, and autonomic dysfunction. Immune activation triggers macrophage‐mediated myelin damage and conduction failure.

The calcineurin–NFATc pathway modulates the lipid mediators in BAL fluid extracellular vesicles, thereby regulating microvascular endothelial cell barrier function

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
Extracellular vesicles mediate intercellular communication by transporting biologically active macromolecules. Our prior studies have demonstrated that the nuclear factor of activated T cell cytoplasmic member 3 (NFATc3) is activated in mouse pulmonary ...

New Insight Into the Evolutionary Arms Race Between Spider Egg Sac Pseudoparasitoids and Active Maternal Care by the Spiders

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 5, May 2026.
We analysed various points of the counter‐adaptations of the spider egg sac pseudoparasitoid and spiders exhibiting active maternal care, utilising the ichneumonid Hidryta fusiventris and the wolf spider Pardosa lugubris. We observed that there is a time shift of approximately 1 month between the first egg sac of P.

Resveratrol for Cancer Radio‐Sensitization: Ready for Prime Time or Future Perspective

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Resveratrol exerts antioxidant and anti‐inflammatory effects by reducing reactive oxygen species and suppressing NF‐κB and JAK/STAT signaling pathways. It modulates metabolic signaling through AMPK‐dependent inhibition of mTOR, influencing cell survival and inflammatory responses.

METHOD FOR MODULATING EICOSANOID MEDIATED IMMUNE RESPONSES IN ARTHROPODS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The invention is directed to compositions which alter the health of invertebrate organisms by affecting eicosanoid mediated immune responses, and methods of using the compositions.

Hericium erinaceus Extracts Exert Gastroprotective Effects Through Modulation of the Gut Microbiota and Metabolites

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
WEHE attenuates gastric injury by modulating the “gut microbiota–metabolites” axis. ABSTRACT Hericium erinaceus (H. erinaceus) is a traditional edible and medicinal fungus with a long history of use in gastrointestinal protection. Although its therapeutic potential in gastric health has been widely acknowledged, the underlying mechanisms by which it ...

Nutraceutical Interventions in Stunting: Advances, Challenges, and Prospects

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 5, May 2026.
Schematic representation of nutraceutical mechanisms in the management of stunting, illustrating an integrative pathway from pathological etiology to therapeutic outcome. (Left) Chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections contribute to gut dysbiosis and environmental enteric dysfunction (EED), leading to systemic inflammation and growth faltering ...
