Synthesis of Microbial‐Derived Octadecanoids

C18‐carbon containing dietary polyunsaturated fatty acids (e.g., linoleic acid, α‐linolenic acid, and γ‐linolenic acid) are metabolized by bacteria in the gut into oxygenated lipid mediators termed octadecanoids. To study the biological function of these compounds, we report here the chemical synthesis of multiple octadecanoids.

Works Councils and Separations: Voice, Monopoly, and Insurance Effects [PDF]

Using a large linked employer-employee data set for Germany, we find that the existence of a works council is associated with a lower separation rate to employment, in particular for men and workers with low tenure.
