Enniatin B and Valinomycin as Ion Carriers: An Empirical Force Field Analysis

Journal of Biomolecular Structure and Dynamics, 1984
The alkali-ion binding properties of two natural depsipeptide ion carriers, enniatin B (EnB) and valinomycin (VM), are examined and compared by the empirical force field method. While VM has been shown to bind preferentially K+, Rb+, and Cs+ over Na+ in most solvents, EnB is considerably less specific.

Complexation of the potassium cation with enniatin B: an experimental and theoretical study

Monatshefte für Chemie - Chemical Monthly, 2016
Extraction experiments in the two-phase water-nitrobenzene system and γ-activity measurements were used to determine the stability constant of the enniatin B–K+ complex dissolved in nitrobenzene saturated with water as 105.5±0.2. Quantum mechanical calculations were applied to predict the most probable structure of this cationic complex species.

Extraction and DFT study on interaction of the cesium cation with enniatin B

Journal of Molecular Structure, 2014
Abstract By using extraction experiments and γ-activity measurements, the extraction constant corresponding to the equilibrium Cs+(aq) + A−(aq) + 1(nb) ⇆ 1⋅Cs+(nb) + A−(nb) taking place in the two-phase water–nitrobenzene system (A− = picrate, 1 = enniatin B; aq = aqueous phase, nb = nitrobenzene phase) was evaluated as log Kex (1⋅Cs+, A−) = 2 ...

Beauvericin and enniatins A, A1, B and B1 in Norwegian grain: a survey

Food Chemistry, 2006
Abstract Norwegian grain samples (73 oats, 75 barley, 80 wheat) from the 2000 to 2002 growing seasons were examined for contamination with five different enniatins and the association between the found concentrations and the prevalence or infection level with several common Fusarium species investigated.

Beauvericin and enniatin B effects on a human lymphoblastoid Jurkat T-cell model

Food and Chemical Toxicology, 2018
Several mycotoxins exert their effect on the immunological system; some are classified as immunotoxic. Jurkat T-cells were used to study toxic effects of beauvericin (BEA) and enniatin B (ENN B). Both are not legislated mycotoxins with increasing presence in feed and food. Concentrations studied were from 1 to 15 μM at 24, 48 and 72 h.

Depsipeptides. Communication 25. Structure and total synthesis of enniatins A and B

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1965
1. Enniatins A and B have the cyclohexadepsipeptide structures (XX) and (VIII) respectively, and these were confirmed by the total synthesis of these antibiotics. 2. Two analogs of enniatins A and B were synthesized: the cyclohexadepsipeptide (XXI) and the cyclooctadepsipeptide (XII). 3. Among the depsipeptide cyclic polymer -

Biosynthesis of enniatin B: Partial purification and characterization of the synthesizing enzyme and studies of the biosynthesis

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1978
Abstract Enniatin B-synthetase was purified 50-fold from Fusarium oxysporum strain ETH 1536/9. The biosynthesis of this depsipeptide seems to occur in a similar way to that of a number of peptide antibiotics like gramicidin S, tyrocidin and bacitracin.

Thiourea and Potassium Permeability of Phospholipid Bilayer Membranes as affected by Enniatin B

Nature, 1968
SOME cyclic antibiotics such as valinomycin, actins and enniatins are known to increase K+ permeability of some biological membranes1–3. Recently, Mueller and Rudin4 have demonstrated that the treatment by these cyclic peptides increases selectively K+ permeability across lipid bilayer membranes.

Antibacterial activity of the emerging Fusarium mycotoxins enniatins A, A₁, A₂, B, B₁, and B₄ on probiotic microorganisms.

Toxicon : official journal of the International Society on Toxinology, 2015
Enniatins (ENs) are secondary metabolites produced by several Fusarium strains, chemically characterized as N-methylated cyclohexadepsipeptides. These compounds are known to act as antifungal and antibacterial agents, but they also possess anti-insect and phytotoxic properties.
