Entropy generation during fluid flow in sharp edge wavy channels with horizontal pitch
In this study, the volumetric entropy generation rate is analyzed in sharp edge wavy channels. A two-dimensional steadily developing fluid flow is considered. Air is considered as the working fluid in the numerical analysis.

Screening for lung cancer: A systematic review of overdiagnosis and its implications
Low‐dose computed tomography (CT) screening for lung cancer may increase overdiagnosis compared to no screening, though the risk is likely low versus chest X‐ray. Our review of 8 trials (84 660 participants) shows added costs. Further research with strict adherence to modern nodule management strategies may help determine the extent to which ...

A mathematical model for entropy generation in a Powell-Eyring nanofluid flow in a porous channel
The continuous generation of entropy leads to exergy destruction which reduces the performance of a physical system. Hence, entropy minimization becomes necessary.

Multivariate Generalized Multiscale Entropy Analysis [PDF]
Multiscale entropy (MSE) was introduced in the 2000s to quantify systems’ complexity. MSE relies on (i) a coarse-graining procedure to derive a set of time series representing the system dynamics on different time scales; (ii) the computation of the sample entropy for each coarse-grained time series.

Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Tracing the classical molecular nature of entropy generation
The second law of thermodynamics and the concept of positive entropy generation are analyzed following classical statistical mechanics methods. Previously, using the generalized Boltzmann–Gibbs entropy and its associated general entropy conservation ...

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...
