Phospholipase C is a novel regulator at the early stages of microspore embryogenesis in Nicotiana tabacum

open access: yesPlant Signaling & Behavior, 2022
Microspore transfers the developmental fate into embryogenesis in vitro regulated by determinant factors of stress-induced. However, the key regulators of microspore embryogenesis (ME) are still largely undiscovered to reveal the mechanism of cell fate ...

Design, modeling and synthesis of an in vitro transcription rate regulatory circuit [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper describes the design, modeling and realization of a synthetic in vitro circuit that aims at regulating the rate of mRNA transcription. Two DNA templates are designed to interact through their transcripts, creating negative feedback loops that ...

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Fhl1p protein, a positive transcription factor in Pichia pastoris, enhances the expression of recombinant proteins

open access: yesMicrobial Cell Factories, 2019
Background The methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris is well-known for the production of a broad spectrum of functional types of heterologous proteins including enzymes, antigens, engineered antibody fragments, and next gen protein scaffolds and many ...

A new strategy for cellulases application in high temperature industrial scenarios with syringic acid assisting

open access: yesGCB Bioenergy, 2023
In the process of bioethanol production, more stable and active cellulase in high temperature condition is required. In this study, syringic acid was applied in cellulase hydrolysis system.

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Design of minibinder proteins as universal antagonists against canine and human TNFα

open access: yesCommunications Biology
In this study, we resolve the complex structure of canine TNFα (cTNFα) trimer bound to nanobody molecules at a resolution of 3.1 Å using cryo-electron microscopy.
