Boron Nitride Nanomaterials Trigger Immunomodulatory Effects in Human Broncho‐Epithelial Cells by Modulating Eicosanoid Lipid Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that BNNT exposure disrupts lipid homeostasis in bronchial epithelial cell cultures and activates eicosanoid lipid biosynthesis, producing inflammatory lipid mediators like leukotrienes. These effects are more pronounced in asthmatic cell cultures compared to healthy ones.

Eosinophilic otitis media a literature review [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Eosinophilic otitis media is actually a recent introduction. These patients may manifest with sudden hearing loss. There may be associated bronchial asthma and allergic rhinitis. Diagnostic criteria of this condition are rather vague.

Bronchoscopy, Imaging, and Concurrent Diseases in Dogs with Bronchiectasis: (2003-2014). [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundBronchiectasis is a permanent and debilitating sequel to chronic or severe airway injury, however, diseases associated with this condition are poorly defined.ObjectiveTo evaluate results of diagnostic tests used to document bronchiectasis and ...

Eosinophilic bioactivities in severe asthma [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Allergy Organization Journal, 2016
Asthma is clearly related to airway or blood eosinophilia, and asthmatics with significant eosinophilia are at higher risk for more severe disease. Eosinophils actively contribute to innate and adaptive immune responses and inflammatory cascades through the production and release of diverse chemokines, cytokines, lipid mediators and other growth ...

Cell‐Free DNA‐Based Theranostics for Inflammatory Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Summary on the dual potential of cfDNA as biomarkers and therapeutic targets for inflammatory disorders. Figure was created with BioRender.com. ABSTRACT Inflammatory disorders are characterized by immune‐mediated inflammatory cascades that can affect multiple organs.

Lonicerin attenuates house dust mite-induced eosinophilic asthma through targeting Src/EGFR signaling

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2022
Eosinophilic asthma is the predominant phenotype of asthma, and although these patients are sensitive to glucocorticoid therapy, they also experience many side effects.

Mepolizumab in refractory eosinophilic asthma [PDF]

open access: yesThorax, 2010
In a recent Lung Alert reviewing our study of mepolizumab in severe eosinophilic asthma,1 Barratt states that the study population represented a minority of patients with asthma and that they had corticosteroid-resistant disease.2 These comments require clarification.

The Global Airways in Practice: Long‐term Effects of Mepolizumab With or Without FESS on Type 2 Inflammation in Patients With CRSwNP

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) is a type 2 inflammatory disease often associated with asthma. The global airway hypothesis suggests bidirectional inflammatory interactions between upper and lower airways. Mepolizumab, an anti–IL‐5 therapy, treats conditions systemically, while functional endoscopic sinus surgery ...

Development of Artificial Intelligence for Quantitative Assessment of Nasal Inflammatory Cytology in Chronic Rhinitis by Whole‐Slide Images

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinitis (CR) is currently recognized as a syndrome that manifests in different phenotypes. We aimed to establish an artificial intelligence system (quantitative assessment of nasal inflammatory cytology, QANIC) on the basis of whole‐slide images (WSIs) to enable quantitative assessment of nasal inflammatory cells.

Management of Severe Asthma in Eosinophilic Granulomatosis with Polyangiitis with Interleukin-5-Targeted Therapies: Current Status and Report of Two Cases

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
Eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA) is a systemic disorder characterized by peripheral eosinophilia, severe eosinophilic asthma, sinusitis, transient pulmonary infiltrates, and features of medium/small-vessel vasculitis.
