Natural Products as Geroprotective Modulators in Diabetic Nephropathy: A Mechanistic Framework Integrating Aging Hallmarks and the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 Axis

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Natural products target the aging kidney in diabetic nephropathy by restoring the AMPK–SIRT1–Nrf2 axis, reducing oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrosis, and cellular senescence while enhancing mitochondrial biogenesis and antioxidant defenses.

Short Sleep and Insomnia Are Associated With Accelerated Epigenetic Age

open access: yesPsychosomatic Medicine, 2022
ABSTRACT Objective Short sleep and insomnia are each associated with a greater risk of age-related disease, which suggests that insufficient sleep may accelerate biological aging. We examine whether short sleep and insomnia alone or together relates to epigenetic age among older adults.

Aging Is a Key Driver for Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a classical age‐related hematologic malignancy, and a key driver of AML is aging, which profoundly regulates intrinsic factors such as genomic instability, epigenetic reprogramming, and metabolic dysregulation, and alters bone marrow microenvironment.

Sex differences in epigenetic ageing for older people living with HIVResearch in context

open access: yesEBioMedicine
Summary: Background: HIV-1 infection impacts biological ageing, and epigenetic clocks highlight epigenetic age acceleration in people with HIV. Despite evidence indicating sex differences in clinical, immunological, and virological measures, females ...

Early infant feeding and adiposity risk: from infancy to adulthood [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Introduction: Systematic reviews suggest that a longer duration of breast-feeding is associated with a reduction in the risk of later overweight and obesity.

Ecological Realism Accelerates Epigenetic Aging in Mice

open access: yesAging Cell
ABSTRACTThe aging of mammalian epigenomes fundamentally alters cellular functions, and such changes are the focus of many healthspan and lifespan studies. However, studies of this process typically use mouse models living under standardized laboratory conditions and neglect the impact of variation in social, physical, microbial, and other aspects of ...

An older subjective age is related to accelerated epigenetic aging.

open access: yesPsychology and Aging, 2021
The present study examined the prospective association between subjective age and epigenetic clock in 2,253 adults (Mean age = 67.40, SD = 8.17) from the Health and Retirement Study. Subjective age and demographic factors were assessed in 2008/2010 and epigenetic clock was assessed in 2016 using the DNA methylation (DNAm) PhenoAge.

Mutant NPM1 in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Initiation and Maintenance

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
NPM1 mutations drive acute myeloid leukemia by acting as neomorphic transcriptional regulators that cooperate with Menin–MLL and XPO1 to sustain HOX/MEIS1 expression and block differentiation. Targeting these mutant‐specific transcriptional dependencies provides a rational therapeutic strategy for NPM1‐mutated AML.

Accelerated hematopoietic mitotic aging measured by DNA methylation, blood cell lineage, and Parkinson’s disease

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2021
Background Aging and inflammation are important components of Parkinson’s disease (PD) pathogenesis and both are associated with changes in hematopoiesis and blood cell composition. DNA methylation (DNAm) presents a mechanism to investigate inflammation,
