Transfer Printing and Reconfiguration of Soft Electronics Using Digital Microfluidics and Laser Machining

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a digital microfluidics‐based technique for transferring and reconfiguring soft nanomembranes. Laser‐machined nanothin membranes are picked up, transported, and aligned via tailored surface tension and the actuation of water droplets, enabling the development of flexible electronics, the integration of functional materials on 3D ...

Influence of Growth Process on Suppression of Surface Morphological Defects in 4H-SiC Homoepitaxial Layers

open access: yesMicromachines
To address surface morphological defects that have a destructive effect on the epitaxial wafer from the aspect of 4H-SiC epitaxial growth, this study thoroughly examined many key factors that affect the density of defects in 4H-SiC epitaxial wafer ...

Epitaxial-Growth-Induced Junction Welding of Silver Nanowire Network Electrodes

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, we developed a roll-to-roll Ag electroplating process for metallic nanowire electrodes using a galvanostatic mode. Electroplating is a low-cost and facile method for deposition of metal onto a target surface with precise control of both ...

Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Transition metal dichalcogenides bilayer single crystals by reverse-flow chemical vapor epitaxy

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Epitaxial growth of the two-dimensionally thin material flakes with effective layer number and shape calls for precise control over temperature and carrier gas. Here, authors report controlled epitaxial growth of the second layer vertically for MoS2, WS2,

Glissile Interphase Boundaries Enable Collective Phase Switching in Epitaxial Polar Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A triple point is identified in the phase diagram of low‐symmetry epitaxial BiFeO3 thin film along with an extended regime of phase competition associated with a flattened energy landscape. The electromechanical response is shown to be governed by correlated interphase‐boundary motion, including scale‐free avalanche dynamics characteristic of systems ...

Epitaxial growth of SiC with chlorinated precursors on different off-angle substrates

open access: yes, 2013
This study focuses on the epitaxial growth of silicon carbide (SiC) epitaxial layers, adopting the chloride-based chemical-vapor-deposition (CVD) process, which allows to achieve ten times higher growth rate compared to the standard process based on the ...

Bandgap‐Engineered AlGaAs/GaAs Heterostructures for Wavelength‐Selective Dual‐Polarity Photoelectrochemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Bandgap‐engineered AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures exhibit wavelength‐selective dual‐polarity photoelectrochemistry, switching from photocathodic to photoanodic response depending on excitation wavelength. The polarity transition is governed by band‐selective absorption, built‐in electric‐field‐driven carrier transport, and interfacial charge‐transfer ...
