Insertion of (Bioactive) Equatorial Ligands into Platinum(IV) Complexes

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, Volume 62, Issue 46, November 13, 2023., 2023
We investigated the incorporation of equatorial ligands into platinum(IV) complexes, enabling the synthesis of otherwise unavailable complexes. Attachment of albumin‐targeting maleimide moieties led to increased tumor accumulation and anticancer activity compared to oxaliplatin. The presented strategy will allow the development of new types of targeted

Small molecules targeting different cellular pathologies for the treatment of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, Volume 43, Issue 6, Page 2260-2302, November 2023., 2023
Abstract Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a devastating neurodegenerative disease in which the motor neuron circuitry displays progressive degeneration, affecting mostly the motor neurons in the brain and in the spinal cord. There are no effective cures, albeit three drugs, riluzole, edaravone, and AMX0035 (a combination of sodium phenylbutyrate ...

Evaluation of the Cytochrome P450 3A and P‐glycoprotein Drug‐Drug Interaction Potential of Futibatinib

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology in Drug Development, Volume 12, Issue 10, Page 966-978, October 2023., 2023
Abstract Futibatinib, a selective, irreversible fibroblast growth factor receptor 1–4 inhibitor, is being investigated for tumors harboring FGFR aberrations and was recently approved for the treatment of FGFR2 fusion/rearrangement‐positive intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma.

Acute effect of prednisolone on renal handling of sodium. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The effect of prednisolone on renal handling of sodium (Na) was studied in rats under three experimental conditions: 1) hydropenia, 2) water diuresis, and 3) distal tubular blockade (DTB).

Hetero-Bis-Conjugation of Bioactive Molecules to Half-Sandwich Ruthenium(II) and Iridium(III) Complexes Provides Synergic Effects in Cancer Cell Cytotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
Four bipyridine-Type ligands variably derivatized with two bioactive groups (taken from ethacrynic acid, flurbiprofen, biotin, and benzylpenicillin) were prepared via sequential esterification steps from commercial 2,2′-bipyridine-4,4′-dicarboxylic acid ...

Insecticide resistance compromises the control of Aedes aegypti in Bangladesh

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 79, Issue 8, Page 2846-2861, August 2023., 2023
Phenotypic characterization of insecticide resistance was conducted using an adaptation of the CDC bottle bioassay on 3‐ to 5‐day‐old, non‐blood‐fed female F1 mosquitoes. Abstract BACKGROUND With no effective drugs or widely available vaccines, dengue control in Bangladesh is dependent on targeting the primary vector Aedes aegypti with insecticides and

Deafness induces complete crossmodal plasticity in a belt region of dorsal auditory cortex

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neuroscience, Volume 58, Issue 4, Page 3058-3073, August 2023., 2023
Activity of neurons in the higher‐order auditory area DZ of hearing and early‐deaf cats were collected in response to different unisensory and multisensory stimuli. In hearing cats, almost all neurons responded to auditory stimuli and a considerable number of neurons (more than 76%) responded to visual stimuli.

Decreased glutathione biosynthesis contributes to EGFR T790M-driven erlotinib resistance in non-small cell lung cancer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) inhibitors such as erlotinib are novel effective agents in the treatment of EGFR-driven lung cancer, but their clinical impact is often impaired by acquired drug resistance through the secondary T790M EGFR mutation.

In Situ Nitric Oxide Gas Nanogenerator Reprograms Glioma Immunosuppressive Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 10, Issue 18, June 23, 2023., 2023
Sphingosine‐1‐phosphate modified liposomes are designed for the delivery of the chemotherapeutic drug temozolomide and nitric oxide prodrug to glioma cells. Nitric oxide produced in tumor cells enhances tumor immunogenicity by inducing immunogenic cell death, and activates the killing effect of temozolomide by inhibiting cellular autophagy.
