Preparation of GST Inhibitor Nanoparticle Drug Delivery System and Its Reversal Effect on the Multidrug Resistance in Oral Carcinoma

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2015
During the chemotherapy of cancer, drug resistance is the first issue that chemotherapeutic drugs cannot be effectively used for the treatment of cancers repeatedly for a long term, and the main reason for this is that tumor cell detoxification is ...

Clinical profiles and prognostic impact of residual intravascular and tissue congestion in acute heart failure

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, Volume 27, Issue 12, Page 3123-3133, December 2025.
This study investigated the prognostic value of residual congestion phenotypes at discharge in acute heart failure. Patients with intravascular residual congestion had better diuretic responses and shorter hospital stays than those with tissue/combined residual congestion, but worse outcomes than decongested patients.

Inhibitory effect of ethacrynic acid on chloride permeability

open access: yes, 1976
Ethacrynic acid inhibits anion movements in ox red blood cells. The I50 for chloride is 7 X 10(-6) M. The inhibitory effect is instantaneous and completely reversed by washing the cells with a Ringer solution, suggesting that reaction with a membrane SH

Molecular characterisation of Entamoeba histolytica UDP-glucose 4-epimerase, an enzyme able to provide building blocks for cyst wall formation.

open access: yesPLoS Neglected Tropical Diseases, 2023
In the human host, the protozoan parasite Entamoeba histolytica is adapted to a non-invasive lifestyle in the colon as well as to an invasive lifestyle in the mesenterial blood vessels and the liver.

Structural analysis of human alpha-class glutathione transferase A1-1 in the apo-form and in complexes with ethacrynic acid and its glutathione conjugate.

open access: yesStructure, 1995
Background: Glutathione transferases (GSTs) constitute a family of isoenzymes that catalyze the conjugation of the tripeptide glutathione with a wide variety of hydrophobic compounds bearing an electrophilic functional group.

Maternal Exposure to Medications and the Risk of Congenital and Early‐Onset Hearing Loss in Children: A Systematic Review and a Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesBasic &Clinical Pharmacology &Toxicology, Volume 137, Issue 3, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Congenital hearing loss (CHL) affects approximately 1–2 in 1000 children and significantly impacts development. Exposure to medications during pregnancy may impact offspring hearing; however, the ototoxic effects of different drugs have not been systematically investigated.

Oxidative stress induced by glutathione depletion reproduces pathological modifications of TDP-43 linked to TDP-43 proteinopathies

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2012
TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43) is a major component of ubiquitin-positive inclusion of TDP-43 proteinopathies including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal lobar degeneration with ubiquitinated inclusions, which is now referred to as ...
