Robust Polymer Hydrogels Improve Electric‐Fish‐Inspired Batteries
ABSTRACT Electric‐fish‐inspired hydrogel batteries based on ion‐concentration gradients offer an attractive route to soft power sources; however, the poor mechanical properties of existing hydrogels limit device assembly and performance. Here, we report poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether acrylate hydrogels that enable ion‐gradient batteries composed of

Scalable manufacturing challenges and limited potency remain two of the most intransigent issues limiting clinical translation of EV therapeutics. Mechanical cues can induce phenotypic changes and increased vesiculation in EV source cells without the use of extraneous reagents, chemicals, and/or cargo, thereby potentially drastically improving the ...

Erratum: Canonical Wnt signalling regulates nuclear export of Setdb1 during skeletal muscle terminal differentiation [PDF]
Correction to: Cell Discovery (2016) 2, 16037; doi:10.1038/celldisc.2016.37; Published 18 October 2016 In the initial published version of this article, an error was made in Figure 6c, where the titles of x axis and y axis were left out. The corrected Figure 6c is now attached in this corrigendum. All figures and text description other than this remain

We introduce an additively manufactured bioreactor with a perfusion flow system and integrated temperature and pH sensors for skeletal muscle tissue biofabrication. The bioreactor's performance was evaluated by assessing the viability, spreading of the myoblast cells in a printed scaffold, and contraction of the isolated murine musculi interossei ...

How E-waste challenges environmental governance [PDF]
This article examines how e-waste – waste from electronic and electrical equipment – poses a challenge for environmental governance. The amount of e-waste generated globally has been estimated to reach about 72 billion tons annually by 2017.

Liver stiffness promotes intrahepatic cholesterol accumulation by repressing LXRα through YAP/TAZ activation. Stiff matrices impair cholesterol efflux in hepatocytes, while YAP/TAZ deletion restores LXRα activity and prevents cholesterol‐induced fibrosis.

Nuclear metabolism oscillates during cell cycle progression. Quantitative chromatome proteomics and imaging reveal phase‐specific dynamics of PIP5K1A and nuclear PIP2, linking phosphatidylinositol metabolism to histone methylation. This work identifies nuclear lipid metabolism as a previously unrecognized regulatory axis coordinating chromatin ...
