Data‐Driven and Cell‐Specific Determination of Nuclei‐Associated Actin Structure
Quantitative volumetric assessment of filamentous actin (F‐actin) fibers remains challenging due to their interconnected nature, leading researchers to utilize threshold‐based or qualitative measurement methods with poor reproducibility.

The association of myosin IB with actin waves in dictyostelium requires both the plasma membrane-binding site and actin-binding region in the myosin tail. [PDF]
F-actin structures and their distribution are important determinants of the dynamic shapes and functions of eukaryotic cells. Actin waves are F-actin formations that move along the ventral cell membrane driven by actin polymerization.

We have previously isolated two MIN6 beta-cell sublines, B1, highly responsive to glucose-stimulated insulin secretion, and C3, markedly refractory (Lilla, V., Webb, G., Rickenbach, K., Maturana, A., Steiner, D. F., Halban, P. A. and Irminger, J.

Emerging role of ARHGAP29 in melanoma cell phenotype switching
This study gives first insights into the role of ARHGAP29 in malignant melanoma. ARHGAP29 was revealed to be connected to tumor cell plasticity, promoting a mesenchymal‐like, invasive phenotype and driving tumor progression. Further, it modulates cell spreading by influencing RhoA/ROCK signaling and affects SMAD2 activity. Rho GTPase‐activating protein

Mechanics of the F-actin cytoskeleton [PDF]
Dynamic regulation of the filamentous actin (F-actin) cytoskeleton is critical to numerous physical cellular processes, including cell adhesion, migration and division. Each of these processes require precise regulation of cell shape and mechanical force generation which, to a large degree, is regulated by the dynamic mechanical behaviors of a diverse ...

Migration and homeostasis of naive T cells depends on coronin 1-mediated prosurvival signals and not on coronin 1-dependent filamentous actin modulation [PDF]
Coronins are WD repeat-containing proteins highly conserved in the eukaryotic kingdom implicated in the regulation of F-actin. Mammalian coronin 1, one of the most conserved isoforms expressed in leukocytes, regulates survival of T cells, which has been ...

This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

The architecture of the actin cortex determines the generation and transmission of stresses, during key events from cell division to migration. However, its impact on myosin-induced cell shape changes remains unclear.

Protective effects of urocortin 2 against caerulein-induced acute pancreatitis. [PDF]
Because little is known about the role of corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF) agonists in regulating responses in pancreatitis, we evaluated the effects of urocortin 2 (UCN2) and stressin1 in caerulein-induced acute pancreatitis (AP) model in rats. Male

Inhibition of CDK9 enhances AML cell death induced by combined venetoclax and azacitidine
The CDK9 inhibitor AZD4573 downregulates c‐MYC and MCL‐1 to induce death of cytarabine (AraC)‐resistant AML cells. This enhances VEN + AZA‐induced cell death significantly more than any combination of two of the three drugs in AraC‐resistant AML cells.
