Graph Coloring [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the ACM Multimedia 2017 Workshop on South African Academic Participation, 2017
We present a means of formulating and solving graph coloring problems with probabilistic graphical models. In contrast to the prevalent literature that uses factor graphs for this purpose, we instead approach it from a cluster graph perspective. Since there seems to be a lack of algorithms to automatically construct valid cluster graphs, we provide ...

AEROS: AdaptivE RObust Least-Squares for Graph-Based SLAM

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2022
In robot localisation and mapping, outliers are unavoidable when loop-closure measurements are taken into account. A single false-positive loop-closure can have a very negative impact on SLAM problems causing an inferior trajectory to be produced or even

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

A Factor Graph Approach for Attitude Estimation of Spacecraft Using a Stellar Gyroscope

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A stellar gyroscope is an attitude sensor that is composed of a micro star sensor and a micro-electro-mechanical system gyroscope. The attitude is the output by fusing the information of the two sensors.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

A Novel Three-Dimensional Coordinate Positioning Algorithm Based on Factor Graph

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
In this paper, a novel three-dimensional coordinate positioning algorithm based on factor graph is proposed to improve the measurement accuracy of the indoor global positioning system (iGPS) under large scale conditions.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

An Introduction to factor graphs [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Magazine, 2004
Graphical models such as factor graphs allow a unified approach to a number of key topics in coding and signal processing such as the iterative decoding of turbo codes, LDPC codes and similar codes, joint decoding, equalization, parameter estimation, hidden-Markov models, Kalman filtering, and recursive least squares.
