Fas and Fas ligand in gut and liver

open access: yes, 2000
Apoptosis (programmed cell death) has been shown to play a major role in development and in the pathogenesis of numerous diseases. A principal mechanism of apoptosis is molecular interaction between surface molecules known as the “death receptors” and ...

Personalized Treatment Selection for Digital Eating Disorder Interventions: A Proof‐of‐Concept for the Personalized Advantage Index

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Although a range of evidence‐based treatments for eating disorders exist, treatment response varies substantially. The ability to match individuals to a treatment which they are most likely to benefit from may help improve treatment efficiency and therapeutic outcomes.

High-resolution cryo-electron microscopy study of structure anddynamics of yeast fatty acid synthase by single particle analysis

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis presents a 5.9 Å map of yeast FAS obtained by cryo-electron microscopy using single particle analysis (SPA). The EM-map has been analyzed both by quantitative and qualitative analysis to aid in understanding of the structure and dynamics of ...

Development and Validation of the Body Neutrality Questionnaire

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Body neutrality has emerged as an alternative framework within the positive body image literature. This study developed the Body Neutrality Questionnaire (BNQ), the first validated measure of body neutrality for young adults. Method An initial item pool was developed using expert consultation and focus group review.

Mechano-inhibition of endocytosis sensitizes cancer cells to Fas-induced Apoptosis

open access: yesCell Death and Disease
The transmembrane death receptor Fas transduces apoptotic signals upon binding its ligand, FasL. Although Fas is highly expressed in cancer cells, insufficient cell surface Fas expression desensitizes cancer cells to Fas-induced apoptosis.

Cardiac remodelling in the era of the recommended four pillars heart failure medical therapy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1029-1044, April 2025.
Abstract Cardiac remodelling is a key determinant of worse cardiovascular outcome in patients with heart failure (HF) and reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF). It affects both the left ventricle (LV) structure and function as well as the left atrium (LA) and the right ventricle (RV).

Metabolic abnormalities and reprogramming in cats with naturally occurring hypertrophic cardiomyopathy

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 1256-1270, April 2025.
Abstract Background and aims The heart is a metabolic organ rich in mitochondria. The failing heart reprograms to utilize different energy substrates, which increase its oxygen consumption. These adaptive changes contribute to increased oxidative stress.

PRO-APOPTOTIC EFFECTS OF APPLE PROCYANIDINS IN HUMAN COLON CANCER CELLS AND THEIR DERIVED METASTATIC CELLS

open access: yesVitae, 2010
Apples are a rich source of Procyanidins (Pcy) which are able to inhibit colon carcinogenesis in animal models, but the mechanisms through which this occurs are not well understood. The evidence obtained in our laboratory and by other researchers, which ...

Long‐term prognosis of pharmacotherapy in newly diagnosed focal epilepsy patients and the predictive value of baseline seizure timing: A prospective cohort study

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective Epilepsy is a highly heterogeneous neurological disorder with significant prognostic variability. Accurate long‐term outcome prediction remains a clinical challenge. We investigated pharmacotherapeutic prognosis and key predictors, particularly baseline seizure timing, to guide individualized treatment.

Fas receptor is required for estrogen deficiency-induced bone loss in mice

open access: yes, 2010
Bone mass is determined by bone cell differentiation, activity, and death, which mainly occur through apoptosis. Apoptosis can be triggered by death receptor Fas (CD95), expressed on osteoblasts and osteoclasts and may be regulated by estrogen.
