Objective The hematopoietic system maintains homeostasis by balancing myeloid and lymphoid cell production in the bone marrow (BM). In response to increased hematopoietic demand, extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) may occur in nonlymphoid organs. We investigated the role of EMH and kidney‐resident hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) in ...

Apples are a rich source of Procyanidins (Pcy) which are able to inhibit colon carcinogenesis in animal models, but the mechanisms through which this occurs are not well understood. The evidence obtained in our laboratory and by other researchers, which ...

Study of the cytological features of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells from patients with neuromyelitis optica. [PDF]
Neuromyelitis optica (NMO) is a refractory autoimmune inflammatory disease of the central nervous system without an effective cure. Autologous bone marrow‑derived mesenchymal stem cells (BM‑MSCs) are considered to be promising therapeutic agents for this

T cells, the next big target in axSpA?
Axial spondyloarthritis (axSpA) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by complex immune dysregulation, with T cells playing a central role in its pathogenesis. In this review we synthesize current knowledge on diverse T cell subsets in axSpA, their pathogenic mechanisms, and emerging therapeutic strategies targeting these cells.

Abstract Aim Local investigators (LIs) overestimate the objective response rate (ORR) in comparison to Blinded Independent Central Reviewers (BICR) in oncology. In this study, we re‐analysed data obtained in the PHEREXA trial (NCT01026142) with the following aims: i) to confirm at the single‐patient level the discrepancy observed by analysing ...

Mechano-inhibition of endocytosis sensitizes cancer cells to Fas-induced Apoptosis
The transmembrane death receptor Fas transduces apoptotic signals upon binding its ligand, FasL. Although Fas is highly expressed in cancer cells, insufficient cell surface Fas expression desensitizes cancer cells to Fas-induced apoptosis.

Efficacy, safety and cost‐effectiveness of CAR‐T therapy
CAR T‐cells demonstrate high efficacy in blood cancers, including ALL, MM and DLBCL. Innovations target solid tumours despite challenges such as antigen escape. Combination therapies enhance the delivery and infiltration of CAR T cells. Toxicity, cost and resistance remain major barriers to clinical use.

Introduction Introduction Reporting adverse drug reactions (ADRs) is essential for detecting drug risks. Despite legal obligations in Switzerland, underreporting remains an issue. This study assessed practice, knowledge and attitudes towards the spontaneous ADR reporting system among physicians and pharmacists.
