Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Composition of essential oil and fatty acids of Centaurea pichleri ssp. pichleri

open access: yesInternational Journal of Secondary Metabolite, 2017
In this study, the essential oil of Centaurea pichleri ssp. pichleri was obtained by hydrodistillation using a Clevenger-type apparatus. GC and GC/MS analyzes of the essential oil from Centaurea pichleri ssp.

Desaturase Genes Expression and Fatty Acid Composition of Pleurotus ostreatus in Response to Zinc and Iron [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Cell and Molecular Research, 2018
The influence of ZnSO4, FeSO4, ZnO, and Fe2O3 at 80 µM on the expression of desaturase genes and fatty acid composition of Pleurotus ostreatus was investigated. Fatty acid was extracted by lipid extraction and methylation procedure using acidic methanol:

Placental transfer of long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Considerable evidence exists for marked beneficial effects of omega-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LC-PUFA) during pregnancy. The omega-3 LCPUFA docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is incorporated in large amounts in fetal brain and other tissues ...

Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids. IV.

open access: yesJournal of Japan Oil Chemists' Society, 1960
Infrared absorption spectra of polyunsaturated fatty acid esters obtained from cuttle fish oils, showed a characteristic absorption at 1395cm-1, in addition to the typical absorption of normal fatty acid methylesters. This absorption at 1395cm-1 was related to the double bond, since by hydrogenation or autoxidation it was vanished away.Methyl linoleate,

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
