Identification of some Yeasts by Fatty Acid Profiles
178 yeasts isolated from various foods were identified using ID32 C strip; Saccharomyces cerevisiae (47), Rhodotorula mucilaginosa (19), Candida kefyr (33), Candida krusei (37), Candida lusitaniae (28), Cndida lipolytica (14). The yeasts were harvested, saponified, derivatized, and extracted, and fatty acid analysis was performed by Gas Chromatography ...

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of NAS-21 and NAS-91 analogues as potential inhibitors of the mycobacterial FAS-II dehydratase enzyme Rv0636 [PDF]
The identification of potential new anti-tubercular cemotherapeutics is paramount due to the recent emergence of extensively drug-resistant strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (XDR-TB).Libraries of NAS-21 and NAS-91 analogues were synthesized and ...

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

Nutrient and fatty acid deposition in broilers fed different dietary fatty acid profiles
The aim of this study was to determine the effect of different dietary fatty acid profiles on efficiency of energy, fat, nitrogen, and fatty acid deposition in broiler chickens. Sixty female broiler chickens were fed a basal diet without additional fat or with 4 other diets with different fats (tallow, olive, sunflower, and linseed oils) at 10% from 28

Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Spatio-temporal postharvest changes in texture and fatty acid profiles in avocado fruit from different origins [PDF]
The degree of ripeness of many climacteric fruits, such as avocado, can be correlated with fleshfirmness and other rheological properties. However, there remains a paucity of information on not only thepostharvest changes in texture of avocado fruit ...
