Cars2‐Mediated Cysteine Catabolism Drives Brown Fat Development and Thermogenesis Through Persulfidating EBF2

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We demonstrate that Cars2, a cysteine catabolic enzyme in mouse iBAT, is critical for cold tolerance and brown adipocyte differentiation. Through its CPERS activity, Cars2 produces CysSSH/H2S to induce EBF2 persulfidation, promoting its interaction with PPARγ and BRG1 to enhance thermogenic gene expression.

Optimization, characterization, and GC-MS analysis of CSOME produced using alkali catalyzed transesterification

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management: X
Biodiesel (methyl ester) was synthesized from cottonseed oil (CSO) with methanol in the presence of an alkali catalyst (KOH) through the transesterification method. Response surface methodology (RSM) optimized the methyl ester synthesis process.

A practical synthesis of long-chain iso-fatty acids (iso-C12–C19) and related natural products

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013
A gram-scale synthesis of terminally-branched iso-fatty acids (iso-C12–C19) was developed commencing with methyl undec-10-enoate (methyl undecylenate) (for iso-C12–C14) or the C15 and C16 lactones pentadecanolide (for iso-C15–C17) and hexadecanolide (for

Synthesis of eicosa-2-trans-8,11,14-all cis-tetraenoic acid-3-14C and dl-3-hydroxy eicosa-8,11,14-all cis-trienoic acid-3-14C

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1967
A general procedure for the synthesis of 2-trans polyenoic fatty acids and of dl-3-hydroxypolyenoic acids is described. The 2-trans acids are prepared by LiAlH4 reduction of a suitable polyenoic fatty acid ester to the alcohol, formation of the tosylate,

Exploring fatty acid methyl esters

open access: yesCroatian journal of food science and technology
The search for alternative fuels led to the development of biodiesel research. However, in order for biodiesel to meet the prescribed standards, it must first fulfil the proportion of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) in its composition. Among several possible methods for the determination of FAME, the standard prescribes the use of gas chromatography ...

The Emerging Parkinson's Disease Oxylipin‐Ome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Parkinson Disease (PD) is increasingly considered a proteinopathy and lipidopathy. This proteinopathy+lipidopathy paradigm has been further refined to a fatty acid (FA)‐opathy, centering dysregulated FA metabolism as fundamental in PD lipid dysfunction.
