Modifying Glucose Metabolism Reverses Memory Defects of Alzheimer's Disease Model at Late Stages

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using spatial transcriptomics, we show that ferul enanthate (SL‐ZF‐01) reverses episodic‐like memory deficits in aged, but not young, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) mice. SL restores glucose metabolism and Glucose Transporter 1/3 expression via an ‘Aging‐AD‐Rescue’ pattern, rescuing deficits seen in aged AD mice.

Presence of ferulic acid in wheat glutenin fraction and its enzymatic hydrolysates - a short report

open access: yesCzech Journal of Food Sciences, 2007
Three protein fractions: albumin-globulin, gliadin, and glutenin were extracted from wheat grains. Enzymatic hydrolysates were obtained from each fraction using trypsin, protease from Bacillus subtilis and Subtilisin Carlsberg.

Analysis of Clostridium beijerinckii NCIMB 8052's transcriptional response to ferulic acid and its application to enhance the strain tolerance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Plant-based cellulose presents the best source of renewable sugars for biofuel production. However, the lignin associated with plant cellulose presents a hurdle as hydrolysis of this component leads to the production of inhibitory compounds ...

Fermented Lacticaseibacillus Paracasei Cultures Ameliorate Colitis by Modulating Microbiota‐Derived Tryptophan Metabolism and Macrophage Polarization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A solid‐state fermented probiotic (PYW) is developed using wheat bran as substrate, containing high viable Lacticaseibacillus paracasei and bioactive metabolites. PYW alleviates intestinal inflammation by gut microbiota composition, enriching indole derivatives, activating aryl hydrocarbon receptor signaling, and regulating macrophage polarization. PYW

Assay of free ferulic acid and total ferulic acid for quality assessment of Angelica sinensis

open access: yesJournal of Chromatography A, 2005
Activity of Chinese Danggui (DG), the processed root of Angelica sinensis (Oliv.) Diels, is linked to the ferulic acid content but the stability of ferulic acid during extraction for medicinal use is not known. The stabilities of ferulic acid and coniferyl ferulate were evaluated in the extracts of DG using a variety of extraction solvents.

Structure‐Guided Engineering of a Promiscuous O‐Methyltransferase for a SAM Regeneration Biocatalysis Platform of Methylated Pharmaceuticals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A substrate promiscuous and regioselective O‐methyltransferase, SmOMT, is functionally and structurally characterized. A double mutant, SmOMTE152A/I306A, exhibited enhanced catalytic activity. By coupling this mutant with a mutant halide methyltransferase, AtHMTV140T, for SAM regeneration, a superior artificial fusion enzyme, AtHMTV140T‐L95‐SmOMTE152A ...

Biomedical applications of ferulic acid encapsulated electrospun nanofibers

open access: yesBiotechnology Reports, 2015
Ferulic acid is a ubiquitous phytochemical that holds enormous therapeutic potential but has not gained much consideration in biomedical sector due to its less bioavailability, poor aqueous solubility and physiochemical instability.

Ferulic acid mediates prebiotic responses of cereal-derived arabinoxylans on host health

open access: yesAnimal Nutrition, 2022
Dietary fiber is named as “the 7th nutrient” for humans, which is beneficial to improve intestinal health and prevent metabolic disease of the host. Mechanisms of dietary fiber administration on improved host health are mediated by short chain fatty ...
