Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Isolated low high density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-C): implications of global risk reduction. Case report and systematic scientific review

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology, 2005
Background The importance of low high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), elevated non HDL-C (as part of the metabolic syndrome, prediabetes, and type 2 diabetes mellitus), and an isolated low HDL-C is rapidly emerging. The antiatherosclerotic roles

Fenofibrate Decreases Ethanol-Induced Neuroinflammation and Oxidative Stress and Reduces Alcohol Relapse in Rats by a PPAR-α-Dependent Mechanism

open access: yesAntioxidants, 2023
High ethanol consumption triggers neuroinflammation, implicated in sustaining chronic alcohol use. This inflammation boosts glutamate, prompting dopamine release in reward centers, driving prolonged drinking and relapse.

Fibrates Inhibit PLTP‐induced M2 Macrophage Infiltration and Increase the Sensitivity of Hepatocellular Carcinoma to ICIs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phospholipid transfer protein(PLTP) plays a critical role in forming a complex with kinase A (AURKA) and P65. This interaction facilitates phosphorylation of P65 at Ser536, leading to the activation of the NF‐κB signaling pathway. Ultimately, this leads to the upregulation of downstream cytokines, including IL‐6, IL‐8, and CSF‐1, which promotes M2 ...

Repurposing Peroxisome Proliferator-Activated Receptor Agonists in Neurological and Psychiatric Disorders

open access: yesPharmaceuticals, 2021
Common pathophysiological mechanisms have emerged for different neurological and neuropsychiatric conditions. In particular, mechanisms of oxidative stress, immuno-inflammation, and altered metabolic pathways converge and cause neuronal and non-neuronal ...

Inhibitory action of gemfibrozil on cholesterol absorption in rat intestine

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
This study was designed to determine whether gemfibrozil inhibits intestinal lipid absorption. Male Sprague-Dawley rats received an oral dose of 30 mg gemfibrozil/kg body weight for 14 days.

Effects of Hypolipidemic Drugs on Psoriasis

open access: yesMetabolites, 2023
Psoriasis is a chronic, systematic, inflammatory disease in which multiple metabolic and immunologic disturbances lead to lipid abnormalities, impaired glucose tolerance, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, atherosclerosis, hypertension, ischemic ...

Dual Ligand‐Enabled Nondirected C─H Olefination of (Hetero)Arenes for the Synthesis of Clickable Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
We report an efficient method for late‐stage installation of “clickable” alkyne groups into diverse (hetero)arenes. Using a dual‐ligand palladium catalyst that combines an NASA ligand with an N‐heterocycle, an acrylate unit bearing a terminal alkyne can be introduced via nondirected C─H activation.
